Fortunately enough, Squall had just barely managed to avoid the explosion, mostly by all but plastering himself against the far wall of the room.

"I'm fine," Squall answered, mostly on reflex. He might have been left unscathed by the explosion, but that had simply kept things from getting worse. Seifer and Rinoa had left him alive, and mostly whole, but that could only go so far - and left to his own devices he hadn't anyway to heal himself.

Which more or less left him with a mess of bruises and various half-healed cuts, but those were survivable, right?
