Characters: OPEN to all party guests
Progress: Ongoing
Summary: A big party for a small girl. Yep, it's Eiko's birthday and she's having a ball.
Location: Lindblum Grand Castle
Date: March 21st, 1804
Warnings: N/A so far

Nobody could say that Regent Cid wasn't generous when it came to his adopted daughter, Eiko. In fact, some said that he was too indulgent. But on this, the evening of Eiko's tenth birthday, the citizens of Lindblum were ready and eager to celebrate. A free ball! Free drinks, free food, and a free pass into Lindblum Grand Castle. Many had failed to acquire tickets in time and were disappointed, but the lucky few piled eagerly into the castle.

Security was tight, and every single guest was checked by the guards before being allowed to enter. Once inside, they would find a wide and sumptuously decorated ballroom. A small group of musicians played slow and ambient music, while the party guests swayed across the floor dressed in all their finery. What could only be described as a flock of moogles flew or scurried around the room, offering glasses of champagne and various sweet treats. Regent Cid himself sat on a grand throne at the head of the room, nodding graciously at the guests who came to pay their respects.

The ball was already in full swing, and the party would go on for a long while yet.

[ooc: Don't worry if you didn't comment to Regent Cid's earlier post requesting tickets. Handwaving is just fine if you want to hop in. It's party style - go tag and mingle! Thread jumping and ninja tagging is encouraged.]

[ooc: Eiko has made a very loud announcement about a celebrity couple's engagement. Feel free to overhear, react or congratulate.]

Celes understood that, even if a ball wasn't really the thing she had in mind to distract herself. She didn't pry any further into what Rydia was thinking, though, understanding the need for silence.

"If they like to celebrate it, then why not?" she murmured. Birthdays also weren't her thing, even if Terra's present had been ridiculously thoughtful.

Rydia nodded with a light shrug. "It gives people the chance to gather again. Hopefully this will end better than Alexandria's ball." Ugh, why did she have to think about that night. "You come here from Figaro, right? How is it there?"

Celes rolled her eyes at the mention of Alexandria's ball. "If it doesn't, I'm going to have to hurt someone." And by 'hurt someone', she meant 'hurt Kefka' of course, even if several people seemed almost determined to drag the memory back around.

"This time I did," she confirmed. "It's well. I hope the situation has been resolved, but it may not be yet." She was tired of everything already. "Where were you before this?"

"Luca, and before that, Troia. I wanted to see that houseboat Tidus was so adamant about getting back from Captain Steiner." Remembering that public exchange brought some amusement to her eyes. "I heard about the two Edgars. One of them avoided my asking for proof, while the other one answered my question accurately. But I don't know him as well as you do anyway, so I'm not sure that's much help."

Celes couldn't help rolling her eyes at that. From what she'd seen on the Sky Phones, Tidus was one of the more high-strung characters around and she was fairly certain she'd want to smack some sense into him if she ever met him.

"Edgar wouldn't turn down the chance to help clear things up. If he offered you information, I would be willing to bet that's the right one. I don't see how there could be two of them here in the first place. An impostor would make the most sense." Her fingers adjusted the glass in her hands as she took another sip of it. "Locke knows more than I do. He's been friends with Edgar for years."

"That's just it, the other Edgar wouldn't offer any information at all. You'd think he'd want to prove himself, it he could...so maybe he didn't because he wasn't the real Edgar?" Rydia was hardly familiar with Edgar herself, but such stalling seemed suspicious to her. "Locke will find out the truth, I'm sure."

Her brow furrowed. "And Kefka...do you really think he's gone? Or might he be part of this, somehow?" Kefka had a history of breaking the rules, when it came to magic. Perhaps he really did go home. Then again, leaving his favorite targets behind voluntarily made no sense to her.
