[Vacation! Open thread]
Characters: Rinoa, OPEN
Progress: Ongoing
Summary: It's time to hit the beach! Get out your bikinis and swimming trunks, girls and boys. Yes, even you, Squall. Party style! Feel free to threadhop, start your own threads etc.
Location: Costa Faguita
Date: May, 1804
Warnings: None
This was the life. Rinoa relaxed on a sun lounger, soaking up the rays. Behind her sunglasses, her eyes were closed. She could hear the waves lapping gently against the beach in the background. It was as though the dragon invasion had never happened.
A group of holidaymakers passed by, laughing and joking as they headed for the sea. Rinoa sat up to take a look around. Hmm. Maybe it was time she went for a swim. But first she needed to reapply her sun cream. She smoothed back her hair and picked up her bottle of sun lotion. Now was there anyone around who might want to help?

She approached and spoke up over the sound of the waves, so that she wouldn't startle him too much were he lost in thought. "Edward...."

"I trust all is well, Mjrn. Life upon the coast certainly seems more cheery than life within the icy slopes of Narshe." The bard honestly detests that kingdom, but not only for the cold. Edward wasn't very fond of its ruler, not fond at all of the young man who rules there. He wasn't sure if there were any reason for him to dislike Sir Larsa, but something about the man honestly irked him.

"And Troia? Your home is recovering, as well?" She remembered that she hadn't heard from Cecil and grows a little worried, though Edward seems cheerful enough. If tragedy had indeed fallen, doubtless his demeanor would be different.
no subject
"But what of you? Are you...are you truly well?" Cue in the nagging worry. "How did you...I, I'm sorry! I shouldn't be thinking of such morbid topics now. Narshe is behind us, is it not?" Edward forced a smile upon his face while the guilt of it all still nagged at him.

She withdrew her hand. "I am...adjusting as best I am able. In truth, I am grateful for this new life. It is not an opportunity I will squander."
no subject
"I...I am grateful to hear you say that, Mjrn. Death is something that I dislike coping with. Penelo and I both feared for the worst when the dragons attacked, but never in my days did I expect to lose someone during this awful attack. Nor did she." A sigh escaped his lips as he tried his best to explain himself. Words were failing him now, so perhaps it would be best to just quiet himself.
"Let us not dwell on this, Mjrn. All is well, isn't it?"
no subject
"Aye, indeed. I am alive once more. My friends are well. The dragons have been slain...and now, we are surrounded by warmth and sunlight. A better outcome I could scarcely imagine." Except perhaps not losing what made her Viera, but...no, trying not to dwell on that, at least not now.

A smile formed as she approached him, though not parting from the water. She merely waded in it until she was close enough, then sent a playful splash his way. It wasn't a large one, just enough to get his attention.

"Trying to gain a tan are you?" He asked while quietly inspecting Rydia for any sort of injuries. All of his companions in Troia survived the onslaught which eased his worries, but many of them were injured during the hellish scuffle. Wondering what could have possibly summoned that swarm of silver dragons, Edward decided he would investigate that matter later.
"How do you fair? You certainly seem well from my opinion."
no subject
She shrugged at mention of a tan but smiled at his assessment. Good, so perhaps she stood a chance of not depressing everyone. "I managed to convince the infirmary that keeping me there would be a waste of space that could be put to better use. Besides, they seemed to agree with me that the beach was a good idea for convalescence.
I hope you don't mind that your stay in Troia was short? It's not like we can't return, but this opportunity seemed too good to pass up."

"I'm grateful for this trip."

Then she remembered something and perked up, turning to him. "Oh! Did you hear? Kain and I found a baby storm dragon during that last day of the dragon fighting. He's adopting her, more or less."
no subject
Smiling for a moment longer, Edward's smile actually dropped once Rydia mentioned Kain adopting anything but angst. "He adopted a dragon?" Oh, dear. This doesn't sound good at all.
"How nice of him, I hope he'll treat it kindly."
no subject
She crosses her arms, that smile widening a bit. "Penelo, eh? So things are going well between you?" Ever since their discussion at Eiko's party, she had been a bit curious but hadn't pressured since then for details. He was overdue.

"Isn't it amazing? A sea endless blue, a perfect image of the skies above that captures the shimmer of the sun's translucent rays." How he simply adores the beach. Only at the beach is where one can view the reflection of the heavens above upon a surface of blue.
"This is nature's mirror."

Her dainty hands slipped down his arm to catch his hand. "Walk with me?"
no subject
"With pleasure, Penelo." Edward said as he wrapped his fingers around her small hand. Walking along the sandy shore with the lovely girl in tow, the Prince of Damcyan finally realized how wonderful peace felt.

Laughing until he could laugh no more, Edward managed to win his freedom once he darted along the beach. "Selphie!" He should have known it was her. "Don't do that! I'm very ticklish."
