Balthier could not have invoked a better name; mention of Zidane always made Garnet soften a little, trust a little more. He may have been raised a rogue and a thief himself, but Zidane's selflessness and virtues were ones she admired and respected. That he had made efforts on Balthier's behalf had her considering the situation even more closely. Of course, he could have been lying...

But it sounded far too much like something Zidane would have done.

Garnet hardened her expression; she could not show weakness to this man.

"So you wish to trade my necklace, in exchanged for you freedom?" she squared her shoulders. "Unfortunately, I have no authority over Lindblum's guard, but I would speak to Regent Cid on your behalf. I cannot lift a price from your head outside of my own borders, but I can make suggestions." She was queen only of Alexandria -- what the rest of the world felt or accused him of, was beyond her jurisdiction.
