On the plains outside Lindblum, a war awaited. Another part of the war already being raged at the city - the leader of it all, the architect of this chaos, the one who desired nothing more than a world without anyone, a world to herself. A place where she could be alone, unbothered and unpersecuted.

She'd been denied that. She'd been denied Time Compression, and for now was settling for the best way to rid the world of insufferable crawling nuisances - sheer, outright massacre. The city would fall, the center of life on this world, and she would expand outward to greater distances.

One good thing about Zack besides his easygoing nature is that he always found a solution for everything, no matter how big or small the problem was. The issue here was rather simple - he hardly had enough gil on him for even a scarce meal, seeing as being on the run with Cloud and being chased by ShinRa prevented him from having even part-time jobs. So he didn't exactly had money to try to buy a ticket to Luca, even if it was thankfully closeby. So he decides to put his enhanced strength to good use by helping moving the cargo into the ship. Good thing the owner is a nice guy, even if none of the locals seemed completely at ease with the 'Sky People'. Still, his invaluable help and endless energy sure enough earn him that place in the small airship. Also, the hard labor prevents him from thinking too much about stuff he really has no answers for, starting at the fact everyone had been somehow dragged here and that seemingly he'd been here himself once. He hopes that someone will be able to give him those answers in Luca. Even if not, he doesn't really care. All he wants is to see Aerith and Cloud and make sure they're alright. He picks idly at the duct tape holding the gash in his pants together - the local chocobos must be underfed if they reacted like that just for a handful of herbs in his pocket - and casts a last glance at Lindblum before ascending the ramp to the airship.

Summary: Three of the women of Avalanche journey into Qu’s Marsh to either try and help Vincent gain control over Chaos, or kill him.
Location: Qu’s Marsh
Date: August 1804, shortly after this and this.
Warnings: Violence/death.

The most obvious thing to see about Qu’s Marsh upon entering it was that some entity had been wreaking havoc there. Several of the rune-covered stones were shattered, and trees were knocked over and destroyed. There was even a body lying in the middle of the destruction, one that was perhaps familiar because of the brightly colored clothing and painted face.

Chaos itself was not present there. Instead, the demon was soaring above the marsh, searching for movement in the swamp below it. Movement meant people, or monsters. Movement meant an opponent, and something to kill. Chaos had been wounded, even weakened by his battle with Kefka, but the demon's purpose would not be so easily forgotten. Chaos existed to kill, and nothing so simple as a wound would stop it from doing that, now that he had undisputed freedom from the host, Lindblum's Rooks, and any others who would try to stop it.

Summary: Firion got himself trapped in the Ice Caverns, but his friends are finally coming to rescue him.

The journey from the swamp where he had appeared to this place had been wearying, after having just (in his timeline, anyway) defeated Chaos, but he drove himself to continue. He was still needed, so he would not falter until his task was finished, no matter how tired he was. After all, simply walking there was not any great feat, simply one that took determination. He had done more difficult things for that in the battle against Chaos.

He had made the journey as quickly as he could, and once he arrived, he paused to rest while he waited for Tifa and Tidus to appear. It might have been more productive to begin the search for his lost friend, but he was tired, and it would be better for him to wait until he had others with him. He had already told Firion of the foolishness of going off on his own, and to then do so himself would be hypocrisy, especially if, in his weariness, he became injured. So instead of starting to search, he took a seat on the ground and stayed there to rest.

While he stopped to regain his energy, he caught sight of a glint of metal from among the rocks. Curiosity piqued, he stood and walked over. It only took a moment to shift away the small rocks covering it to reveal a blade, reddish in color and familiar. It was Firion's sword, with his other weapons piled underneath it and mostly hidden from view.

Carefully, the Warrior of Light began to remove each one, checking them for damage or dulling to the blades. Firion had said at one point that most of his weapons were taken, but this might as well be all of them. He was stuck in the Ice Caverns with only a knife to defend himself. At that realization, the Warrior began to search for the entrance to the Caverns. This was even worse than he had thought.
