A sudden growl broke his train of thought. It was a very small growl, one which he knew all too well. He turned, to see that his little dragon had, in fact, followed along at some distance behind them.

"Zephyr!? I thought I told you to wait for me..." Well, maybe he had had a thought in mind to use her as a useful reason to depart from the castle early. So much for trying that now. Still, he had to give her credit for stealth, and for not attracting unwanted attention as she'd followed.

Kain gave her a stern look, to which she stared back just as stubbornly. They really were like a father and a misbehaving child. But after a moment, she came over to him, and he patted the top of her head to acknowledge it was all right. No harm done. "Zephyr, this is Cecil... Cecil, Zephyr."
