Characters: Laguna and Raine
Progress: In Progress
Summary: Arguing about Raine's phone call from Rinoa
Location: Dali
Date: October 1804
Warnings: Bickering?
Raine put down her phone and simply stared at it. It wasn't like they could avoid speaking to each other again. Not that she knew exactly where things stood with Rinoa and Squall, but she at least knew they were involved and if his reaction to her ire was anything to gauge, they still were. If she wanted any sort of a chance to build a relationship with him, she would have to swallow her pride and tolerate Rinoa. But she just couldn't stomach the idea. Her trust had been broken, her family had been hurt.
The aggravating thought that she was being just as closed minded and hateful about the girl as the village had been about Laguna sprang to mind. The comparison irritated her. It was different. Laguna hadn't done a blessed thing to those people. That Sorceress was guilty as sin and everyone knew it. Controlled? Sounded like a scapegoat response for someone who didn't like the consequences of what she'd done. An apology didn't undo anything. It didn't take back the horror of watching Ellone be tortured. It didn't undo the nightmare it left Squall dealing with. It didn't take away what fear Laguna had to go through when he'd been dumped off and left to die without knowing the fate of his family. 'I'm sorry' just didn't take all that away, just like it didn't undo the death of Ellone's parents or her kidnapping.
No, a Sorceress was always at the root of whatever problems she and her family suffered through. One is one too many, she thought, crossing her arms over her chest and huffing out an annoyed sigh.
