Summary: Travelling to the Iifa Tree and healing the children
Location: On the way to the Iifa Tree
Date: January 1804
Warnings: Come on-- they're throwing kids in the Lifestream. That's abuse.
The trip to the Iifa Tree had been a perilous one. Encountering the epitaphs had been horrible; facing friends and having to see to their demise was excruciatingly difficult. Cloud had seen enough of his friends die in Zack and Aerith. He didn't need to watch others die, let alone have a hand in it all. Doing such acts was painful for all of them and with Shelke and Denzel hardly in any real condition to fight, things were at even worse points.
Really, it was thanks to Eiko that they all came out of it alive. Cloud and Tifa both owed their lives to her.
The ex-SOLDIER that never was had fast discovered Eiko's preference to be treated like a lady and would continue to treat her that way. If there was one thing his mother had taught him, it was to be a gentleman to ladies. He was already a gentleman when it came to Tifa and Aerith, and even Shelke and Marlene, so it'd be no different.
With Denzel in his arms, the boy's head on his shoulder, Cloud was carrying him after a particularly nasty attack from Geostigma. He vividly recalled what that felt like, so he would have the most sympathy for the boy. Sure, the others could give him assuring words, but they didn't understand how much it hurt. How it made your whole body scream in pain, how it felt like your blood was boiling as if someone was trying to break out from inside you. It was cruel pain and Cloud didn't like to even think about Denzel in that state. Especially as they walked towards the Iifa Tree, where things would more than likely get worse. He knew he had to somehow get Denzel and Shelke down into the Lifestream and that idea frightened him. Especially considering he planned to go down with them if something went wrong.
