Characters: Rikku & Auron, anyone else who wants to pop in
Progress: Incomplete
Summary: Rikku catches word of the festival through her wanderings through Lindblum and decides to look for Auron there, having heard through the Mooglenet that he was in this strange world as well.
Location: Lindblum, around the festival and probably the banquet/ball
Date:taking a stab and guessing Feb. 3, 1803 ??
Warnings: None.
Rikku had been wandering around Linblum for what she felt was an eternity. It really wasn't that long, of course, but she had yet to see a face she recognized; so time passed slowly, like it always did when she was bored.
The people she did find were very hospitable, though. They seemed to understand that she did not come here of her own will and even told her stories of others they had observed that seemed to be in the same boat. One older couple even let her stay in their inn for "as long as she needed to"; they had insisted on no charge, but Rikku in turn insisted they let her pay. It wasn't like her to refuse a gift, she knew, but even she couldn't accept such a generous offer scott-free. Both parties eventually agreed to a reduced fee, and that's where Rikku had been ever since. She still had a decent amount of Gil on her when she awoke in the town, and the currency, to her luck, was the same here as back in her home world.
One thing that definitely was not the same was the mobile phones; there was nothing like them in Spira. Rikku at first could never remember to check her's, but as she got to know the in-and-outs of the device (it WAS machina, after all) she wondered how she could have lived so long without it. She would start each morning checking through everyone's messages, but that would end quickly as she became discouraged that the Mooglenet brought no news of anyone from Spira.
But then his message came.
"It's Auron," she thought aloud. "It's really Auron! Grumpy, serious, no-fun Auron!!"
Rikku almost fell out of her chair when she spotted his message. She noted his location and scrambled for the map she received. And it was... far. Very far. Rikku knew nothing of the transportation here and, on top of that, her message to him went unanswered.
She was just about to lose hope when the Festival of the Hunt slowly but surely worked its way into everyone's conversations. A casual stroll through the market revealed the whole town's excitement, from the youngest of children to the oldest of folks, her innkeeper and his wife included. They had heard all about Rikku's troubles of late (because who was she to deny them such a story when they asked what was wrong?) and urged her to seek Auron out at this festival.
"Everyone is invited, especially those from the sky. He is sure to be there!"
So down there Rikku marched as soon the opening ceremony started, and there she stayed until well after everyone started to file back into their dwellings. The second day was the same thing, with no sign of Auron.
It was now the third day of the festival. The night's dinner and ball was the hot topic on everyone's lips. The innkeeper's wife woke her up first thing in the morning and shuffled her, half-asleep and wholly-protesting, to the town's nearest clothing shop, insisting the best dresses would be picked over by everyone else if they didn't get there as soon as it opened.
It was there that Rikku was now, her energy fulled restored by the mere thought of a day of shopping, trying on dresses and hoping that tonight would be the night she would finally find Auron.
