[Thread; Semi-open]

Characters: Rosa and anyone in Troia who helped with the pirate situation
Progress: Ongoing
Summary: Rosa thanks everyone for coming to her aid
Location: Troia
Date: Early Feb
Warnings: Vayne being a creeper? None really for now

Cecil's departure had very nearly set Rosa's world upside down. In fact, she had come to wonder how she was still upright. Rydia's arrival had been a blessing, as the summoner had practically forced her to sleep and even though she'd slept fitfully, at least she'd rested some. Something was always better than nothing.

She'd done what she could for the people of Troia, following Vayne's strategical suggestions thoroughly. Once reinforcements had arrived, the pirates had been conquered and Rosa could now rest easily. As soon as she had finished patching up those who had been injured in the subsequent battles and made sure the citizens were all right still, Rosa knew she needed to thank those who had come to her aid. Without them, she and the town of Troia would have been overrun in a matter of minutes.

So, she'd issued an order for everyone to either meet in the middle of the town or to allow her to find them. With any luck at all, those who had assisted her would allow her this one final request.

((OOC: feel free to create separate threads or whatever you guys feel like doing. If you need a Rosa specifically, specify that you're looking for her, or I'll just assume she found them to thank them.))

Rydia was around, of course. Ever since she arrived, the summoner did her best to help alleviate Rosa's burden even at the expense of her own rest. Perhaps it was hypocritical, but Rydia didn't care. Though Cecil's departure affected Rydia deeply, it had to affect Rosa far more, and the strain of leading Troia hardly helped that.

She did her best to echo Rosa's aid wherever her friend couldn't be at the moment, filling in the gaps and seeing that restoratives were distributed wherever they needed to be. Urgent matters were seen to with all due haste, anything else noted for later, when time could be spared. At the moment, only the essentials mattered.

Upon hearing the order, Rydia of course complied. Though Troia wasn't her hometown and she wasn't ruling or leading it, it was still her home in Gaia. The people who arrived to aid them deserved thanks, and Rydia would happily do her part there.

Vayne strode through the streets of Troia, masking his satisfaction with himself and how his plans were working out. As expected, the pirates were eliminated easily, and people were hailing him as a hero. The Lady Rosa received much of the accolades as well, which was unfortunate, but expected. Still, he found himself now highly welcomed, and his pleasure grew with every step.

Still, humility was required still in this situation. He gently rebuffed the praise being lavished on him, claiming it to be nothing more that public service. He knew exactly what to say to win over a crowd. Look how he'd had the Dalmascans eating out of his hand.

If only there were a way to reach that voice in the wind, and set it straight. Perhaps it had been nothing more than his imagination, the mind filling in for Venat, although in a less flattering way. He nearly courted it in his thinking, daring it to come forth now that the first step had been taken. The first of many. He would be hailed as Dynast-King, both here and in Ivalice.

((ooc: He's up for being approached, or he'll find you guys, either way. He really wouldn't mind a word or two with Rosa.))

On her way to Rosa, Rydia spotted the man who accumulated excited attention wherever he went. She had seen his work in Wutai, of course, and his generosity was again made apparent with this recent crisis. Given how very badly Rosa had needed the support, Rydia was quite grateful for it and the chance to say as much.

Approaching, Rydia smiled and tried to look less weary than she felt. Rest could be had after she could be sure of getting Rosa to seek it also and that wasn't going to be for a while yet. "Lord Vayne. It's a pleasure to see you again, especially now. I can't thank you enough for what you've done to help Troia."

The hug was definitely welcome; Rydia leaned into it and hugged back warmly. Her expression softened upon seeing Rosa in a brighter mood. After the heartache of seeing her in such low spirits earlier, that meant a great deal. "I'm glad to have done my part, Rosa. This is my home for a while, and how could I claim that if I didn't defend it? Thankfully, we didn't have to do it alone. I really want to find Lord Vayne and the others with him, to offer my thanks."

She paused, looking over the white mage. "Now that the crisis is over, I hope you'll let me poke you into getting some real rest. You have to need it, after all that."

Sephiroth left the pirate prisoner he'd managed to catch during the last of the fighting and headed into the town proper to seek out Vayne. Nothing of much use had been learned from the man and some of that he still was trying to decide if it had been a bid to catch interest and keep the man breathing longer or actual honest truth. Considering the man's attitude and body language throughout the capture and questioning, he was currently leaning toward the former and thus the fact there was little use in keeping the man in his custody any longer.

Of course leaving the privacy of the ship where he'd secured the prisoner to seek out his employer meant he had to deal with the people of the city hindering his progress unintentionally due to their desire to thank him for his part in the rescue of their town. He dealt with the obstacles with good grace since he knew the people meant well, even if he didn't really care too much for such lavish expressions of praise. In his experience so far, while fame had its upside in perks...the misery it also could bring wasn't worth it it in the end run.

Finally finding the man he sought, Sephiroth now had the interesting challenge of actually getting close to him ...or he could wait until crowd thinned and went on their way. On reflection, he decided to wait on the edge of those around the man until either he caught Vayne's attention or the crowd dispersed and he could get to him without having to deal with more of the well-meaning townspeople.

Edge was always happy to help his friends. Helping Troia out was no exception, yet it served to remind him of his responsibility back home. He could only hope the repairs were going well despite his absence.

He walked off alone, away from the festivities and looked out over the war, realizing that rebuilding cities would be a mainstay of his existence from here on out. He knew he would stay and help Rosa until he was no longer needed, yet he was still unsettled in this new world.

Rydia nods, reluctantly. She really doesn't want to just up and leave Rosa, even for a little while. "I should. It was helpful of Gabranth to tell us about it, and I'm sure Lord Larsa wouldn't attempt to claim it for its own...but it's from our world. It belongs here."

And...there was something else. She bit her lip, wondering how to explain. "Earlier, I had a...visitation from the spirit who passed on the strange Eidolon known as Anima to me. She said she had news for me, but that I'd have to go meet her. I don't think she would have said this without good reason, so...I'll hear what she has to say, and then I'll return. I won't be gone for long."

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-02-13 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Rydia did her best to thank everyone, see to the townspeople's needs, and ensure that Rosa didn't wear herself out. Some of that was at her own expense. It had been a long day, and she was feeling it, but pride and stubbornness were so far keeping her upright. The summoner wouldn't crash until she was certain Rosa could, and that was that.

She noticed Edge head off alone, but couldn't join him right then...and didn't want to interrupt. Everyone needed some time alone to themselves, even though she often teased Kain about going off to brood. At some point, though, Rydia knew she needed a break and stepped away from the crowd and toward the water, resolving to be away no longer than a few moments. Just enough to catch her breath before heading back over.

[identity profile] arrogant-flirt.livejournal.com 2010-02-13 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
Edge just stood there looking out over the water. Lowering his voice for privacy as he stepped closer he plainly asked Rydia, "Will she be ok?" Even he was unsure whether he was speaking of Rosa, Troia, or his own beloved Eblan.

He stole a glance at Rydia noting her fatigue as he recognized that he could not stand here all night allowing her to pull his weight.

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-02-13 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
The summoner was silent for a moment, not certain what to say in response. Maybe she might as well admit it. "I...don't know." She sighed, lowering her voice as well. "Rosa's happier for having helped make a difference here, but as soon as this is over, there's still Cecil's absence to deal with. Not to mention she didn't expect to run this place...."

But Rosa wouldn't abandon Troia just because Cecil wasn't there and she knew it. The white mage was nothing if not devoted, and everything she did, she put her soul into it. Rydia turned to glance at her, some distance away, before being silently reassured that Rosa didn't need her at the moment. She raked a hand through her hair and tried to stifle a yawn.

[identity profile] arrogant-flirt.livejournal.com 2010-02-13 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
Edge was always brash and unconcerned out appearances as he decided that Rydia required his presence more than she was letting on. He slid his arm around her not in flirtatious banter, but rather for exhaustive support. He would support her weight as much as she allowed.

While it pained him that Eblan was surely leaderless, he saw the void created by Cecil's abrupt departure. "I'll help her, however I can." He knew that while Rosa would give her all, she could never be everything these people needed of her. At least he would help create a home in Troia for any would be Earthen Sky People that appeared.

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-02-13 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Rydia remained as she was for a moment after she felt his arm around her, then leaned in a little. As long as she didn't have to verbally admit to weariness again, the support was welcome. Stubbornness was almost all that was keeping her going, at this point.

"Good. I'm sure she could use your experience." She paused, uncertain how to explain what was on her mind. "I have to leave soon...not just to pick up the Lunar Whale, but to meet someone. A spirit of one of my Eidolons said she has news for me, but I need to go meet her. I'm not sure what this is about, but she wouldn't request me for no reason."

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-02-13 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Rydia nodded, though still felt guilty about the idea of leaving. She had barely returned to Troia, after all. It was starting to feel as though the world was conspiring to keep her away.

"Maybe she knows something that will help us...or it could be a warning about what's to come. Either way, I don't think I can afford to ignore the summons. But still, I'll be back as soon as I can. You'll see me again soon enough."

[identity profile] arrogant-flirt.livejournal.com 2010-02-13 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
There would be time later for Edge to rib Rydia for needing support, but not in the midst of chaos. He wasn't used to keeping his mouth shut, and hoped she would regain her strength before he burst.

Edge immediately became concerned about this talk of meeting more Eidolons, "They don't want to test you again, do they?" He couldn't let her run off and battle Eidolons in her current state.

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-02-14 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Rydia shook her head. "I don't think so, no. I didn't even have to fight for that Eidolon. Whatever else she wants to say, it must be important." Her brow furrowed, trying to guess as to what that could be. "Maybe it has to do with that Memoria weirdness that happened just before you arrived." Maybe, but Rydia remembered something else that Anima had said, something that Edge was better off not knowing about. It could be about that, instead....

[identity profile] arrogant-flirt.livejournal.com 2010-02-14 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
"You didn't have to?" It was obvious that Edge didn't understand the ways of this new world. From losing Eblan to Cecil's disappearance, life was as crazy as ever.

Edge was a little surprised about Rydia being called to talk to the Eidolon, but shrugged it off as being normal. "Really, who we going to see?"

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-02-14 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
"I know, it's weird...." Rydia was not completely at ease with the idea of obtaining a summon without fighting it first, but Spira's and Gaia's ways were strange like that. "She's a fayth, and the one who gave me the Spiran Eidolon known as Anima. I met her at the Eidolon Wall in Madain Sari, a summoner town. That's where she'll want to see me."

[identity profile] dynast-king.livejournal.com 2010-02-14 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
He held up a hand to forestall the formal title. "Please, I insist that you call me by name. There is no need for formalities here. In these lands, and my own, I am nothing more than a public servant." Vayne glanced around, taking in the city which had been spared a naval invasion and nodded firmly. "I am relieved to see our endeavours successful. However, if you will forgive me saying, you appear weary. All must rest after their labours."

[identity profile] dynast-king.livejournal.com 2010-02-14 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
"There is no need for titles among friends, is there?" he asked stoically of Rosa. Vayne bestowed a half-smile on the white mage, possibly the warmest expression he was known to show and dipped his head. "And I must protest you laying gratitude at my feet as well. I am pleased that I have found a way to be of service to the greater good."

[identity profile] arrogant-flirt.livejournal.com 2010-02-14 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
He was struggling to stay caught up with the influx of information. "A town full of summoners? And She's the one who lives in this town." It seemed the harder he tried to understand everything, the more confused he became. "If you already spoke to her, why do you need to go there?"

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-02-14 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
"It was full of summoners. Now it's nothing but ruins." Rydia didn't have to say anything about how that compared to Mist, but she knew there was no need. "I think she expended a lot of energy just getting my attention, and couldn't linger in Troia to tell me anything else. At least, that's my guess. I'm not sure how her kind works."
