"Jackass," he muttered under his breath once he saw that smirk, scooping Puss from the table and cuddling him, bending one knee up to keep himself balanced on the chair. "He's my new partner, since you're a jerk." He didn't mean that. He never meant it when it was in casual conversation like this. Reno only ever meant insults to Rude when they were angry at each other. Not that he was going to tell him about their last argument.
That had caused far too many trust issues between them both and nothing had been the same after it.
