Summary: A big party for a small girl. Yep, it's Eiko's birthday and she's having a ball.

Nobody could say that Regent Cid wasn't generous when it came to his adopted daughter, Eiko. In fact, some said that he was too indulgent. But on this, the evening of Eiko's tenth birthday, the citizens of Lindblum were ready and eager to celebrate. A free ball! Free drinks, free food, and a free pass into Lindblum Grand Castle. Many had failed to acquire tickets in time and were disappointed, but the lucky few piled eagerly into the castle.

Security was tight, and every single guest was checked by the guards before being allowed to enter. Once inside, they would find a wide and sumptuously decorated ballroom. A small group of musicians played slow and ambient music, while the party guests swayed across the floor dressed in all their finery. What could only be described as a flock of moogles flew or scurried around the room, offering glasses of champagne and various sweet treats. Regent Cid himself sat on a grand throne at the head of the room, nodding graciously at the guests who came to pay their respects.

The ball was already in full swing, and the party would go on for a long while yet.

Terra brightened up when she spotted the other green haired girl approaching, holding up her hand in a little wave of greeting. Oddly-colored-haired girls had to stick together, after all.

"Thank you," she actually blushed faintly at the compliment. "You look lovely too."

Rydia paused before her, but was forced to move to the side a moment later as a couple headed to the dance floor. She reclaimed her spot afterward, the smile widening. "Thank you. I hope you're enjoying yourself, so far? How have you been?" Well, aside from that not-too-distant summoner trip.

Terra shifted back a step, bringing her closer to the wall, so that there was room for Rydia to move out of the line of traffic. "I am. Mostly." She smiled some. "I am getting used to them, but I'm still not very good at what to say around so many people." She shrugged and took another sip of her drink.

"Oh, very good. Trying to figure out this whole Edgar thing..." Her voice trailed off and she shook her head faintly. She still didn't understand how there could be two.

That mention of awkwardness earned Rydia's sympathy. She was about to say something in response to that when mention of Edgar perked her up. At that, she nodded. "I heard about that--spoke to one of the Edgars, in fact." She closed the distance a touch, voice lowering slightly even though no one seemed to be paying attention to them. "If there's an impostor and not some weird time issue, I think the one I spoke to could be the real one. Not that I know him well, but he was able to answer my question accurately."

Terra wasn't sure what to say about the odd doppleganger situation. She had only met one of them in person, but she knew she needed to go to Figaro to help sort it out. She just...didn't even know where to start.

"I know Edgar, and they both seem...mostly...right." She shook her head and sighed. "I don't know."

"Hm." If Terra and the other Returners were doubtful, the other Edgar must be pretty close, too. "You'll figure it out, I'm sure. There has to be some detail that only the real Edgar will know. I doubt it's a time issue, anyway. I haven't heard about anyone having a past or future self appearing in Gaia while they were around, have you?"

"No, I haven't. I mean, it seems like some people remember different things when they arrive but there's never been...two." She would've laughed if it wasn't Edgar. She liked Edgar.

"Is it wrong that part of me hopes one of them fades away and solves the problem?"

A wry smile formed as Rydia shook her head. "I don't think so. You ought to be able to welcome a friend without worrying if he's the real deal or not." She tilts her head, thinking. "Sabin would have to know, wouldn't he? They're brothers, after all...."

"He should," Terra hadn't asked him quite yet what he thought of all this. Part of her was afraid Sabin wouldn't know and then where would they be?

"I am sure we will figure it out. But...not tonight." A faint little smile. "Are you here with anyone tonight?"

Rydia nods, remembering to take a look around for him at that point. "Oh, yes. His name is Edge and he's a friend from home. We got separated, but I'm sure I'll find him again soon. What about you, are you here with anyone?"

Terra smiled, glad to know her friend had come with someone. Just because she hadn't didn't mean everyone else shouldn't, after all! "Oh, I wanted to come but didn't want to come by myself so I made Celes come with me," she smiled a bit sheepishly at that. "But I'm not sure she's having any fun."

Rydia raised an eyebrow. She thought Locke would be ensuring Celes' good time, as much as he could. "Really? Hm. Locke ought to be nudged into dancing with her. He can't let my lessons go to waste!"

Terra nodded her head, "yes. If he doesn't ask her eventually, I will probably go and find him." She didn't want to have to do that, but she would.

Rydia chuckled at that idea, nodding approvingly. "Good idea. And...I hope you get the chance, too." If Edward wasn't busy keeping Yuna content, Rydia might have given thought to introducing them. Still, Terra reminded her strongly of Rosa in some ways and she had little doubt that the other would receive some attention, if she so wanted it.
