Event: Eiko's Birthday Ball

Characters: OPEN to all party guests
Progress: Ongoing
Summary: A big party for a small girl. Yep, it's Eiko's birthday and she's having a ball.
Location: Lindblum Grand Castle
Date: March 21st, 1804
Warnings: N/A so far

Nobody could say that Regent Cid wasn't generous when it came to his adopted daughter, Eiko. In fact, some said that he was too indulgent. But on this, the evening of Eiko's tenth birthday, the citizens of Lindblum were ready and eager to celebrate. A free ball! Free drinks, free food, and a free pass into Lindblum Grand Castle. Many had failed to acquire tickets in time and were disappointed, but the lucky few piled eagerly into the castle.

Security was tight, and every single guest was checked by the guards before being allowed to enter. Once inside, they would find a wide and sumptuously decorated ballroom. A small group of musicians played slow and ambient music, while the party guests swayed across the floor dressed in all their finery. What could only be described as a flock of moogles flew or scurried around the room, offering glasses of champagne and various sweet treats. Regent Cid himself sat on a grand throne at the head of the room, nodding graciously at the guests who came to pay their respects.

The ball was already in full swing, and the party would go on for a long while yet.

[ooc: Don't worry if you didn't comment to Regent Cid's earlier post requesting tickets. Handwaving is just fine if you want to hop in. It's party style - go tag and mingle! Thread jumping and ninja tagging is encouraged.]

[ooc: Eiko has made a very loud announcement about a celebrity couple's engagement. Feel free to overhear, react or congratulate.]

Turning a tad red from embarrassment, Edward merely laughed at the young lord's question for he was more than certain one small glass of champagne couldn't do that much damage. "No, no! I am just a clumsy fool at times." He said with a hint of playfulness in his words. Eying the other in a similar bout of curiosity, the prince's attention was snatched away from Larsa once the band's foul playing won his interest once more.

"Honestly, no lute should sound like a braying cow..." Edward mumbled with an exasperated sigh. “Music is supposed to be an art form, is it not? Then if so, these cads are drawing squiggles upon a canvas.”

Chuckling softly at the gentleman's confusion, Edward decided to ask a simple question first before continuing with his discontent with the royal orchestra. "Do you fancy their kind of playing, sir? They being the musicians present here at the ball."

Allowing a charismatic grin to settle upon his face, the Damcyan prince answered the noble's question quite confidently. "But of course, while I may not be really a bard by trade, I certainly know a thing or two about music." He was being humble about his skills, but he was speaking the truth. While he still have a long way to go before becoming a leader equal of the late Damcyan King, Edward is a superb musician with a talent that seems to get better as the years go by.

"Although, I do admit some of the instruments they are using here are quite foreign to me."

"You are quite observant, sir." Edward replied with a cheerful smile. "I almost hadn't noticed that even the cuisine here is different from what I normally acknowledge. Gaia is truly a world filled with its own unique flair no matter how similar such a world may be to our homelands." This was very true considering Gaia's culture was quite similar to his world despite the minor differences.

Gazing towards the orchestra for a brief moment, the prince turned to face Larsa once more. "Forgive me for not introducing myself, but I am Prince Edward Chris von Muir of Damcyan." Offering his hand to the nobleman, Edward hoped to make a friend out of this rather attentive young man.

"And you are?"

Bowing was something his old man would do while amongst delegates from other realms, but for Edward; he preferred a handshake or two to establish a friendlier sense of commonality amongst others. "I know. My father was quite fond of long winded titles." He quickly replied before the nobleman gave his introduction.

"O-oh..." Seeming a tad stunned, Edward couldn't believe that the young man before he was an 'emperor'. "My word, I never would have guessed you to be emperor, Lord Solidor. Then again, I pegged you for a Gaian scholar of some kind." He chuckled sheepishly as he released Larsa's hand.

"Forgive me for my assumptions as well as my rudeness."

It was true that Edward certainly looked to be around Larsa's age, the bard-like prince always thought of himself as older than his appearance. Perhaps it was the brutal conflicts in Damcyan that aged him, or maybe it was the fact he lost a piece of his soul when Anna died. Whichever the reason, sometimes Edward forgets his own age.

"That is true. We are both young enough to be brothers or at least cousins." He said with a sprightly laugh. Larsa was like no other he knew. He was reminiscent of Cecil, but certainly more poised in mannerism like Yang. The Emperor of Archades had certain flair with words that truly made him quite likable in Edward's opinion. Yes, this fellow was a worthy cad to befriend.

“May I ask what Archades is like? My kingdom of Damcyan is surrounded by deserts as far and wide as the eyes see. It’s climate is quite hot during the day as you could imagine, but the nights bring a bitter chill.”
