Event: Eiko's Birthday Ball

Summary: A big party for a small girl. Yep, it's Eiko's birthday and she's having a ball.

Nobody could say that Regent Cid wasn't generous when it came to his adopted daughter, Eiko. In fact, some said that he was too indulgent. But on this, the evening of Eiko's tenth birthday, the citizens of Lindblum were ready and eager to celebrate. A free ball! Free drinks, free food, and a free pass into Lindblum Grand Castle. Many had failed to acquire tickets in time and were disappointed, but the lucky few piled eagerly into the castle.

Security was tight, and every single guest was checked by the guards before being allowed to enter. Once inside, they would find a wide and sumptuously decorated ballroom. A small group of musicians played slow and ambient music, while the party guests swayed across the floor dressed in all their finery. What could only be described as a flock of moogles flew or scurried around the room, offering glasses of champagne and various sweet treats. Regent Cid himself sat on a grand throne at the head of the room, nodding graciously at the guests who came to pay their respects. 

The ball was already in full swing, and the party would go on for a long while yet.

Penelo nodded once, finally looking away, so Mjrn couldn't see the fleeting troubled look on her face. "A lot of them. I've felt like I was close before, but it was like being thrown under rushing water." She stole the barest of glances in Larsa's direction. "Larsa he... I'm not sure what to do. I'm not the same person anymore. But I don't want to hurt him."

Mjrn paused, feeling somewhat guilty. "Perhaps I should have spoken to you about Larsa, before this event. I was not certain if it was the right course, or if it was better to let matters unfold." She sighed. "Sometimes, hurting the ones we love is unavoidable. Yet, being truthful with him will cause the least pain."

"It's not your fault, Mjrn. Please don't blame yourself." While a little advanced warning of Larsa's feelings, and what had happened before, might have made the transition easier, Penelo had her doubts. The more she thought on it, the more awkward everything might have been. All she wanted now was to spare Larsa discomfort and heartache. He was still young, younger than she once more, and she'd learned from experience that it was quite possible to eventually move on from first loves. "I'll talk to him later, but this isn't the place."

She nods to that, resting a hand on Penelo's shoulder. "Aye. This is a time of celebration. Enjoy the company given...and tend to such matters when you are not still reeling from these memories. He will hear of this when you are ready."
