Event: Eiko's Birthday Ball

Characters: OPEN to all party guests
Progress: Ongoing
Summary: A big party for a small girl. Yep, it's Eiko's birthday and she's having a ball.
Location: Lindblum Grand Castle
Date: March 21st, 1804
Warnings: N/A so far

Nobody could say that Regent Cid wasn't generous when it came to his adopted daughter, Eiko. In fact, some said that he was too indulgent. But on this, the evening of Eiko's tenth birthday, the citizens of Lindblum were ready and eager to celebrate. A free ball! Free drinks, free food, and a free pass into Lindblum Grand Castle. Many had failed to acquire tickets in time and were disappointed, but the lucky few piled eagerly into the castle.

Security was tight, and every single guest was checked by the guards before being allowed to enter. Once inside, they would find a wide and sumptuously decorated ballroom. A small group of musicians played slow and ambient music, while the party guests swayed across the floor dressed in all their finery. What could only be described as a flock of moogles flew or scurried around the room, offering glasses of champagne and various sweet treats. Regent Cid himself sat on a grand throne at the head of the room, nodding graciously at the guests who came to pay their respects.

The ball was already in full swing, and the party would go on for a long while yet.

[ooc: Don't worry if you didn't comment to Regent Cid's earlier post requesting tickets. Handwaving is just fine if you want to hop in. It's party style - go tag and mingle! Thread jumping and ninja tagging is encouraged.]

[ooc: Eiko has made a very loud announcement about a celebrity couple's engagement. Feel free to overhear, react or congratulate.]

"Ah yes, I remember...you were quite nervous but an excellent partner," quipped the cowboy. He looked at her and stated, "You are looking as gorgeous as usual...I'm sure your date is lucky to have someone like you around his arm." I mean he only assumed...after all, Terra looked really good through Irvine's eyes.

...Not to say he's willing to give up Selphie for her or any thing.

"T-thank you," she remembered that dance, it had been awkward but fun. But then she shook her head at him.

"I am just here on my own. Well, I made Celes come with me but..." She shrugged.

Irvine, of course being him, simply stated, "No, I do not believe that. Absolutely not. I mean there's no way a beautiful woman like yourself is without a date." The cowboy blinked and then added, "Unless this Celes...is..." He didn't want to say it cause...well, hey who knows, Irvine was yet to see Terra with a man of her own. Well from his knowledge.

Okay Irvine, you earned yourself another blush. "Celes? She's just my friend." Her voice dropped a little bit into a half-whisper. "I'm hoping she dances with Locke."

In fact, if the other woman didn't, Terra would probably have to do something about it. "But...no, I don't have a date." A little shrug.

Irvine saw what Terra's cheeks did, he simply smirks at that. He chuckled however at her answer and asked, "So, you're playing matchmaker with someone huh?" He found it funny and added, "Take my advice, lead them to believe not a damn thing is going on. I'd give you more, but I think Selphie and Rinoa would be better people know about this." And Selphie and Rinoa would help out, least to some extent.

However he was still irked, Terra, no date. He bowed in front of the green haired vixen and added, "As for yourself, I'd be happy if I was your date for the evening...I think Selphie wouldn't mind if I shared myself to a friend."

Terra just nodded her head, a little grin tugging at the corner of her lips. "Yes. I don't think I really need to, they seem to be very..." She paused, searching for the correct word. "Distracted by each other, sometimes. But they are very stubborn." Terra wanted her friends to be happy, damn it.

The offer of a date made her frown, though, and she tilted her head a tad as she looked up at him. "But you are Selphie's date. No one should have to share a date..."

Irvine knew how that was as he stated, "Well, be careful playing matchmaker there Terra, sometimes it can blow up on your face. But..." he nodded and continued, "I'm sure you can pull it off."

He smiled to Terra and added, "True, but no one should be without a date at this party Terra." Wasn't pushing her into being a date, just he didn't like seeing his friend, especially from the opposite sex, without someone at a place like this.

"They like each other," she was almost sure of that. If they didn't like each other than she was a lot worse at all of this than she thought. My, that was a depressing thing to consider.

"Well...thank you Irvine, really." She nodded her head at him, and she did mean it. "I really am fine, though. I like watching everyone. It is...interesting."

"Isn't that what you did last time before I came around. Watching people is fun and all, but not as exciting as being part of the party, right?" He shrugged and replied, "But I won't push, but I would love to dance with you again...who knows, maybe this time you'll show me up and teach me a few moves."

"I...did dance some last time. I danced with you, and with Nida..." And then a huge fight had broken out. She was rather glad this wasn't happening this time.

At his offer, she couldn't help but smile. "I would not mind dancing. But I am certain you would still be better at it than me."

A sly grin came across his face as he simply shrugged and replied, "Who knows maybe I've gotten rusty and forgotten things, maybe you learned a few new moves since last we met." He looked at her and added, "Just remember, the key thing about dancing...having fun. Everything else doesn't matter...except for being close to a loved one...but that's a different thing all together."
