Event: Eiko's Birthday Ball

Characters: OPEN to all party guests
Progress: Ongoing
Summary: A big party for a small girl. Yep, it's Eiko's birthday and she's having a ball.
Location: Lindblum Grand Castle
Date: March 21st, 1804
Warnings: N/A so far

Nobody could say that Regent Cid wasn't generous when it came to his adopted daughter, Eiko. In fact, some said that he was too indulgent. But on this, the evening of Eiko's tenth birthday, the citizens of Lindblum were ready and eager to celebrate. A free ball! Free drinks, free food, and a free pass into Lindblum Grand Castle. Many had failed to acquire tickets in time and were disappointed, but the lucky few piled eagerly into the castle.

Security was tight, and every single guest was checked by the guards before being allowed to enter. Once inside, they would find a wide and sumptuously decorated ballroom. A small group of musicians played slow and ambient music, while the party guests swayed across the floor dressed in all their finery. What could only be described as a flock of moogles flew or scurried around the room, offering glasses of champagne and various sweet treats. Regent Cid himself sat on a grand throne at the head of the room, nodding graciously at the guests who came to pay their respects.

The ball was already in full swing, and the party would go on for a long while yet.

[ooc: Don't worry if you didn't comment to Regent Cid's earlier post requesting tickets. Handwaving is just fine if you want to hop in. It's party style - go tag and mingle! Thread jumping and ninja tagging is encouraged.]

[ooc: Eiko has made a very loud announcement about a celebrity couple's engagement. Feel free to overhear, react or congratulate.]

That blush was contagious, it seemed. Rydia shook her head, for once appearing self-conscious. "Ah...not yet. I'm still not sure what I want to say and there just hasn't seemed to be a right time." She paused and wrinkled her nose a little, realizing that her excuses were a little weak. Still.... "Besides, he hasn't come forward with anything, either. The straightforward approach might be the fastest, but maybe this shouldn't be rushed."

Rydia shook her head, though not at that last question. "Yuna, I know you just want to see me happy. It's sweet of you, and I'm not mad. I just...."

She fell silent for a moment, thinking over Yuna's suggestion. "I...tonight? Hm. Maybe he behaves himself and doesn't flirt with every woman here." A small smile that wasn't really a smile emerged. "No point in asking him anything, if his attention span doesn't hold."

But if it did...Rydia wasn't quite sure where to go from there.

"I...suppose...." Rydia looked thoughtful, even though she wasn't sure how quickly she would be able to act on Yuna's advice. She watched the dancers move in time to the music for a moment in silence, then turned to Yuna. "You should dance."

Rydia grinned. "I was thinking of finding Edward, but if you'd really prefer me instead...."

"That's right! Edward Chris von Muir, Prince of Damcyan...but he prefers to be a bard, instead. I guess since Damcyan isn't here, he can finally have his wish." Rydia smiled fondly when talking about Edward. For all his issues, she really was fond of him.

Rydia noticed the stare and shook her head immediately. "Don't worry! He's one of the nicest people I've ever met. You'll hear him talk about music far more than politics, anyway."

"It's a lot like dancing with anyone else. He's a pretty decent dancer, from what I remember at a wedding, some time ago." Rydia wondered if she would have to recruit help to find the elusive bard, in the form of a little summoner girl. If he made them wait more than a few more moments, she will be tempted to do just that.

Rydia smiled at the memory. "Cecil and Rosa's wedding, back in Baron. It was their coronation too, but it wasn't actually as formal as you'd think. Mostly, it was just a gathering of friends who needed a good time after all the battles we'd been through."
