Event: Eiko's Birthday Ball

Summary: A big party for a small girl. Yep, it's Eiko's birthday and she's having a ball.

Nobody could say that Regent Cid wasn't generous when it came to his adopted daughter, Eiko. In fact, some said that he was too indulgent. But on this, the evening of Eiko's tenth birthday, the citizens of Lindblum were ready and eager to celebrate. A free ball! Free drinks, free food, and a free pass into Lindblum Grand Castle. Many had failed to acquire tickets in time and were disappointed, but the lucky few piled eagerly into the castle.

Security was tight, and every single guest was checked by the guards before being allowed to enter. Once inside, they would find a wide and sumptuously decorated ballroom. A small group of musicians played slow and ambient music, while the party guests swayed across the floor dressed in all their finery. What could only be described as a flock of moogles flew or scurried around the room, offering glasses of champagne and various sweet treats. Regent Cid himself sat on a grand throne at the head of the room, nodding graciously at the guests who came to pay their respects. 

The ball was already in full swing, and the party would go on for a long while yet.

Rinoa glanced back at Squall. "Oh, me too! I'm so glad. Although..."

She moved closer to Mjrn, to whisper in her ear. Well, just whisper. Rinoa wasn't tall enough to reach Mjrn's ears.

"It is different. He's come from a different time... From before we were together. He's only been here for a few days and it's all still really strange, so don't be too offended if he's a bit distant with you, okay? He doesn't really know anyone."

Mjrn's hearing was such that Rinoa's words were clear enough to her without the girl trying to reach up to them. She nods, curious and sympathetic. "I understand and will not be offended. It is an opportunity to meet him again." That and she had only spoken to him a few times before. It wasn't too weird for her, but Rinoa...well, now wasn't the time to ask, with Squall nearby.

"Thank you." Rinoa squeezed Mjrn's arm gratefully. "You're a great friend, Mjrn. Hey, did you come with your date?"

"Ah, yes." Mjrn peered around for him, but couldn't find him among the crowd. "Reks must be nearby, but we became separated due to the many attending. I am certain we shall reunite soon."

Rinoa nodded. "He'll find you sooner or later. Until then, we've got plenty of time to catch up. Hey, is Chit all right? Are you still looking after her?"

Rinoa thought the fat bird was adorable. Not that she would rather see it than her friend, but still. Adorable.

Mjrn nodded, smiling at mention of Chit. The little bird seemed rarely forgotten, for long. "She is well and yes, I am. I bring her outside the city limits daily, that she may roam while I train. This night was a disruption from her routine. I doubt she cared for it overmuch, but tomorrow, all will return to normal. You are welcome to visit and see her again, of course."

"Great!" said Rinoa happily. "I'll do that. So are you living in Lindblum now?"

Mjrn nodded cautiously. "For now. I believe my traveling companions are becoming restless, so I suspect that by next month, we shall be elsewhere. There are no solid plans made yet, however."

"Travelling companions?" Rinoa tilted her head curiously. "So you're with a whole gang of friends? That sounds great. Who's travelling with you? You can tell them that you guys can hitch a ride on Garden whenever you want."

"I will remember to mention this. Perhaps it will come to pass soon, should our paths intersect." Mjrn looked eager to see Garden again. The technology was unfamiliar but fascinating, and with friends aboard, how could she refuse. "Reks and I travel with Vaan and Penelo. Now that they have returned, I have little wish to part from their company."

"Oh, I know them!" Rinoa said. "You definitely should come and visit, all of you."

Garden was a big place. It could hold everyone that Rinoa knew easily, and Rinoa was always eager to have more friends to talk to.
