This was the life. Rinoa relaxed on a sun lounger, soaking up the rays. Behind her sunglasses, her eyes were closed. She could hear the waves lapping gently against the beach in the background. It was as though the dragon invasion had never happened.

A group of holidaymakers passed by, laughing and joking as they headed for the sea. Rinoa sat up to take a look around. Hmm. Maybe it was time she went for a swim. But first she needed to reapply her sun cream. She smoothed back her hair and picked up her bottle of sun lotion. Now was there anyone around who might want to help?

"You know," said Rinoa, scooting a bit closer, "it's easier to sort out your thoughts when you talk to someone about them. Ever thought of that? I don't mean you have to confide in me, you don't even know me, but I bet your friends would be willing to lend an ear. It really does help. Besides, where's the fun in being all broody on the beach? You should cut loose and enjoy yourself sometime."

If Kain thought that Rinoa was being presumptuous here, he was right. But he reminded Rinoa of Squall, and long years of experience had taught her exactly how to deal with that type of guy.

Oh, Great. Rinoa wouldn't be the first to try giving such advice to Kain, either. He was just a little too good at ignoring it whenever people tried. It was just easier for him to keep his thoughts to himself...

"I'd rather not burden anyone. I can handle what's on my mind, myself." Kain glanced off toward where others were playing around on the beach. "That's not quite my sort of fun. Anyway... I'm not training at the moment, that must count for something."

"I've heard that before." Rinoa gave him a knowing smile. If he'd let her, she could give him all sorts of advice about a problem shared being a problem halved and stuff like that, but his next statement distracted her. "Oh? So what do you like to do for fun?"

Yes, the fact that she made such a familiar expression was... somewhat disturbing to Kain. He sighed heavily, hoping that they could find a new topic of conversation. "Well..." What did he do in his spare time? "...Training, usually."

Right. Perhaps it didn't count as fun for most people.

"Training, huh? You're sounding more and more like someone I know every second." Rinoa personally didn't see what was fun about it, but she knew enough people who enjoyed it not to comment. "Hey, have you heard of Galbadia Garden?"

Kain was almost afraid to know of this person he reminded her of, but whatever the case it didn't seem to be anything bad. He shrugged after that. "I think... I may have heard mention of it before, but I've never seen it myself." He was sure that Rydia would know more about it, since she always did seem to meet people more readily.

"It's parked close by," said Rinoa. "If you go to the top of the sand dunes, you could see it from here. It's a military academy... sound like your thing, huh? Oh, and I'm the pilot."

She threw that last statement out as a casual aside, but it was obvious that Rinoa was very proud of this fact.

He certainly wouldn't have guessed her connection to the Garden... and it did earn respect points from him. Kain nodded thoughtfully. "It certainly would be worth seeing it sometime."

"You're always welcome to take a tour!" Rinoa offered. "After Costa Faguita, we're heading off to Alexandria for the Queen's wedding."

Kain nodded to that. "Very well. I might take the offer, although I'm... not entirely sure if I'll be at the wedding." He had a feeling he'd be coerced into it somehow or other.

"Well, it's up to you." Rinoa winked at him. "I'll see you around."

She waved before walking off, already looking around for her more talkative friends.
