Ever since the end of the dragon attack, Kain had avoided the castle, mainly out of a need to stay distant from Edge. That didn't mean he wouldn't go there if he had to... and since it had been a while since he'd seen Cecil, he felt he owed it to him to come.

Arriving at the castle, he headed in with a purposeful stride and glanced around. He found himself hoping that this time's meeting wouldn't end disastrously. He sighed to think of all the other times he'd somehow let Cecil down... especially going overboard during that past training session, something he was glad Cecil seemed not to remember since his return.

Kain moved into step alongside him. He was careful not to show much emotion in his expression, as ever when they discussed Rosa. "I've spoken with her over the device, although I've not visited her in person since the dragon attack." Truly, he'd spend all his time near her if he could, but he had to be careful not to do that.

"I hope you'll consider visiting her before you leave Troia then," Cecil made a point of saying, glancing over at him. "You wouldn't want to upset her."

"I wouldn't want to disappoint her," Kain agreed, with a serious nod. At least it meant he'd have to make a point to go see Rosa now, which wasn't such a bad thing... Although he had to work hard to hide his eagerness to do so. He was so glad that Cecil couldn't read his thoughts.

"Count yourself lucky." That was all he would say on the matter. If Kain missed out on saying a greeting to Rosa, she wouldn't be too pleased and Cecil would be the one who'd have to listen to her. Of course - that was all meant in a nice way.

At least the discussion of Rosa hadn't become too uncomfortable, as it was usually likely to. He nodded slowly. "Then I'll attempt to keep it that way."

There was a slight smile from the Paladin. "Or you might find yourself answering to me," he responded in light humor, tilting his head back to gaze up at the high ceilings as they walked.

"How has Zephyr been, Kain?" He looked over at him then, curious about the little dragon.

"I wouldn't want to cause that," Kain replied, as they continued along their way. "As for Zephyr, she's been well. She's resting for now, but she's starting to become more settled around people. It's just taken time." He was careful about going into towns or populated areas with her, but gradually it was becoming much easier. She was a quick learner.

"I had never imagined that you of all people, Kain, would become a father. And before any of us no less," he teased still. "But I'm glad to hear that Zephyr is well.

"Hopefully you will bring her to visit Rosa and I one day?"

"Nor would I have." In fact, he was the last person he'd imagine taking on such a task, but now the way things were, he'd never have it any other way. "I'll have to bring her along when I intend to stay longer-"

A sudden growl broke his train of thought. It was a very small growl, one which he knew all too well. He turned, to see that his little dragon had, in fact, followed along at some distance behind them.

"Zephyr!? I thought I told you to wait for me..." Well, maybe he had had a thought in mind to use her as a useful reason to depart from the castle early. So much for trying that now. Still, he had to give her credit for stealth, and for not attracting unwanted attention as she'd followed.

Kain gave her a stern look, to which she stared back just as stubbornly. They really were like a father and a misbehaving child. But after a moment, she came over to him, and he patted the top of her head to acknowledge it was all right. No harm done. "Zephyr, this is Cecil... Cecil, Zephyr."
