Characters: Braska, Eiko(!), Tidus, Yuna, possible cameos by the ones designated to keep the couple on their feet
Progress: In Progress
Summary: The ceremony itself - complete with Eiko trying to be all official
Location: Luca, southern beach
Date: Friday, June 18, 1804
Warnings: Possibly Extreme Sap, but probably none
Despite the fact that Yuna was no longer a member of Yevon (and Tidus had never been one to begin with), they'd chosen to base their wedding along those lines, as it was the one they, and the people around them, were most familiar with. This one, though, wouldn't turn out the way Yuna's first ceremony had, and thank god for that. The air in general was less formal, more relaxed, and there was no sense of heavy religion about the thing, for the most part.
Braska was officiating, while Eiko had insisted on "helping," which Tidus had reluctantly given into. They were waiting at the front, on a wooden platform that had been constructed for this purpose, in front of a screen constructed of draping fabrics and various flowers and greenery that grew around Luca. Benches had been set out in the sand to seat the guests in a semicircle, cut into three pieces by the two aisles that were left open for the bride and groom (and their supporters) to make their way down at the start of the ceremony. The weather had cooperated, for once, as it was a bright and sunny day, though the wind would gust sometimes rather unexpectedly.

Date: 2010-06-15 05:15 am (UTC)Rikku herself was in a simple yellow dress (http://www.camdendrive.com/media//resized/graceful-short-yellow-prom-dress-l3807-f_size2.jpg), a compromise of a sort as she figured she shouldn't wear something too revealing at someone else's wedding. Especially Yunie's!

Date: 2010-06-15 05:19 am (UTC)She glanced over to Rikku and grinned. "Doesn't she? Tidus will love it." Actually, she wondered if he would even pay attention to such details. Who knew. "You look pretty good yourself!"

Date: 2010-06-16 04:11 am (UTC)Wiggling with anticipation, she clapped her hands and bounced. Or attempted to bounce, the skirts were so heavy. "You look great! Quit fretting and let's get a move on!" Bulky formal attire or no, Eiko's impatience and bossiness couldn't be dampened. It was a good sign though, that she was eager and excited for this marriage, given her abusively loud objection to the groom the month before. "Come on, Yuna! It's your big day!"

Date: 2010-06-17 12:48 am (UTC)"Of course now, Yunie! You're getting married! Isn't it exciting?" She was being her usual cheerful self, despite the fact that she was SO the sort to try at weddings. And she would...just not yet. Now she was just trying to keep her cousin calm and happy.
"You look amazing and everybody is here just for you. And Tidus looks so thrilled..." She grinned. "Now's the perfect time!"

Boys' side
Date: 2010-06-15 12:26 pm (UTC)But there were at least three wrapped layers to that thing, and by the time it was finally on and tied properly, Tidus definitely felt like he was going to be swimming in his own sweat before the day was through. All that fabric was heavy - and the case of groom-to-be jitters he'd been developing all morning really didn't help any.
"I'm gonna screw this up, something's gonna go wrong."
For for being so late!
Date: 2010-06-19 09:23 pm (UTC)Considering he only had Luca to go by so he couldn't exactly get an outfit that he was used to. Still, he managed with a simple robe and wore his own underneath for now. After all, he could remove the cumbersome thing once the party started.
S'all right bb
Date: 2010-06-22 02:41 am (UTC)Oh well. It was just one day. He hoped.
"Because something is gonna go wrong, Kefka's gonna show up or something and everything's gonna go to hell." Tidus was prepared for that event - Brotherhood was always nearby, at the moment up at the platform where the actual ceremony would take place. The fact that it wasn't in his hands right then definitely contributed to the nerves, though.

Date: 2010-06-24 05:11 am (UTC)He knew they'd taken all the precautions they could to stop him appearing, but there was always the chance they'd slipped up. Tidus just groaned and stood still, already starting to sweat in the heavy fabric.
"Man, how do priests live with this all the time?"

Date: 2010-06-24 05:15 am (UTC)Honestly, Firion never understood how Tidus could wear that, those gloves, and the boots in the water and still swim so fast.

Date: 2010-06-28 09:25 pm (UTC)...Well played, Firion. Well played.
Tidus just rolled his eyes, then straightened everything out one last time (he hoped) and moved to the entrance of the little tent. "Just don't let me fall over, all right?"
Ceremony
Date: 2010-06-19 04:13 am (UTC)A small table sat to the side with one chain of daisies and two floral wreathes. As with Garnet's wedding, the child had studied the script for hours and hours. She memorized every word, even though she didn't understand several of them. Struggling with her heavy summoner's robes, she stepped forward and motioned for Tidus and Yuna to kneel. They had to, for she was far too short to do anything with them standing.
"As our people seek to be one with nature, you have come to be made one with each other. So shall you be. As your hands are bound together, let your hearts be also bound. But know that these bonds are fragile and require diligence and care to remain whole." So Eiko had to sneak a little peek at her script while she picked up the chain. Just to be sure. After that though, she remembered the rest as she tied their hands together with the daisy chain she wove herself the day before.

Date: 2010-06-19 05:18 am (UTC)This was not a Zanarkand ceremony.
Still, seeing as he was the only Zanarkand kid there... at least he thought so... going with a more Yevon-ish ceremony made sense, even if he did have to deal with the robes. And having Braska be the priest made everyone less freaked out, since kind of none of them were really Yevon anymore. Still, when Eiko got going, he threw a look of confusion at Yuna and knelt according to her directions.
"This is gonna look really weird..." he muttered, so only the girls could hear him.

Date: 2010-06-19 07:01 am (UTC)The books had been clear about that part of the ceremony and what flowers were traditional and why. What they didn't explain was why hold up the flowers in the first place, but if that's what was done, then Eiko was determined to follow through.
"We crown you with flowers to bless your home and your union. May these blessings cover you as the flowers crown your heads. Roses for affection. Daisies for felicity. Ivy for tenacity." One wreath went on each of their heads and Eiko beamed with delight at Yuna and Tidus. "May your happiness flourish and your household bloom."
Then with a complete lack of ceremony, Eiko told them matter-of-factly. "You can stand up and kiss now. You're married."

Date: 2010-06-19 08:30 am (UTC)This was damage control more than anything. So Tidus put up with the flowers, especially the ones on his head, to look at Yuna. Well, if the kid commanded...
He pushed himself to his feet, pulling her up with him by their joined hands. And when he was sure she wasn't going to fall over, Tidus wrapped his free arm around her, pulling her to him as his left hand laced tightly with her right, and kissed her deeply and passionately in front of all those people. A roar went up from the crowd, but he wasn't paying attention - all he cared about was kissing her as much as he possibly could.

Date: 2010-06-24 05:00 am (UTC)But at the moment that just didn't matter, and in front of him was what did - her. Tidus helped her balance, supporting part of her weight and drawing her in as much as he could to kiss her crazy, using his blitz skills to keep either of them from needing to breathe - and probably having some people wonder if they were going to start the wedding night right there at the altar. Which they weren't, but he sure wasn't pulling away.
