Being without Squall had been hard. Especially hard since both Zell and Irvine had gone missing around the same time; Rinoa had felt as though she was going to lose everyone she cared about.

But now Squall was back - and he was older, much closer to the Squall she knew and loved back home. Rinoa couldn't wait to see him again. She watched eagerly for the airship to touch down near Garden, and when it did she ran down to the entrance hall to meet him.

"Squall! You're back!"

Squall nodded to Rinoa, half expecting her to just jump into his arms like so many times before.

"Yeah...I am." He had missed her, missed everyone else, missed the Garden while in Chaos' realm. More so than he'd admitted to anyone else.

Well now, she couldn't disappoint him, could she? As soon as Rinoa reached him, she flung herself into Squall's arms.

"I missed you so much!"

Squall held her close. It's been so long since he he could do that. "I did too." He admitted quietly to her.

"Let's move inside?" Squall was uncomfortable out here in the open.

Rinoa smiled. "Of course."

Public displays of affection weren't exactly Squall's thing. Not that that stopped Rinoa from taking his hand as she walked back into Garden.

"I want to know everything," she said. "What happened while you were gone? Where did you go?"

Hand holding was alright. It was kissing, prolonged hugs and the like that he had trouble with.

Squall sighed and wondered how to being. 'We were drawn into this other world to fight for two all-powerful beings so that all our worlds won't be destroyed...' seemed a bit too over the top and cliche.

"Like I said before, I..didn't go back to Balamb or our world. I was taken to another one..."

Rinoa stared at him with wide eyes. "Another one?"

She wondered if it was one of her friends' worlds. Maybe, if people got sucked into Gaia, other people got taken to other worlds...

"Not any world I know, or words' from any other person we've met here. A...different one." One where they had no choice but to fight.

"So what was it like? What happened?" Rinoa was hanging onto his every word, wishing that he'd just get to the point and explain. Had something bad happened? Was that why Squall was being so reticent?
