Characters: Rinoa, Garnet, OPEN
Progress: Ongoing
Summary: Rinoa attacks Alexandria. Garnet cops it. SeeDs and others save the day. Check here for more details. OPEN to anyone who wants to come help defend the city.
Location: Alexandria
Date: 30th-31st August, 1804
Warnings: Violence and death.
The Alexandrians were more resourceful than Rinoa had anticipated. It was such a backwards country that she thought it would be easy: a fun distraction while Ultimecia laid waste to bigger threats elsewhere. But a squadron of airships had found them en route from the ruins of Midgar and proceeded to harry them all the way to the city.
The good thing was that it became easier to convince some of the students that Alexandria ought to be invaded. The rest were bewildered and scared; the entire Garden was in disarray. Rinoa didn't really care at this point. Garden was merely a vehicle.
A small squadron of students had been instructed to attack the city. But that wasn't Rinoa's destination. Under cover of darkness, she flew into the city, moving from rooftop to rooftop and casting fire spells as she went. Very soon, smoke and flames filled the air, along with the screams of panicked citizens. As the city burned and confusion took over, the SeeD students moved in to begin the battle. Rinoa didn't stop to watch them.
She moved on, staying too low for the airships to safely reach her, until the castle walls loomed before her. Here she abandoned stealth and flew straight up, her wings flashing white in the darkness. Shouts of startled guards followed her, but they couldn't chase her into the sky. The first Flare smashed into a turret, killing two soldiers and reducing half the turret to rubble. Rinoa was exhilarated. This was everything Ultimecia had promised her, and more.
There would be more deaths to come.

Date: 2010-09-04 03:26 pm (UTC)The expression in her eyes was cold and calculating, similar and yet different to anything the Sorceress had shown them. Let her deal with the general who had once torched a town and many of its inhabitants. See how she liked that.

Date: 2010-09-05 10:01 pm (UTC)It was no match for the magic that a sorceress had in their arsenal but at least a Red Mage would help to even the score a little bit. "What the -- we can't cast magic at home..."
Not that it mattered because it meant that Selphie could help take down Rinoa without having to resort to a sneak attack. Although... the sneak attack was starting to sound like a good idea.

Date: 2010-09-07 05:31 pm (UTC)She ignored Celes. The woman couldn't reach her up here, not unless she had some very good climbing skills.
Instead, as Rinoa cast Firaga at the entire party, her eyes met Squall's. "Not yet," she murmured.

A scattering of ice-shards to answer fire. It seemed fitting enough, even if it wasn't guaranteed to do particularly much damage.

Date: 2010-09-09 11:48 am (UTC)All he had was a puny dagger, and a damn short fuse. He had to do something, and something quick. For now, all he could do was watch idly by at his friends fighting.

Date: 2010-09-10 09:50 pm (UTC)Then there was ice coming at her and Rinoa had a sudden vivid memory of Edea attacking Squall, of the icicle that had pierced his chest, and how distraught she had felt-
Confused, Rinoa failed to defend herself and she dropped down onto the tower, falling back against the battlements. She was hurt, but not helpless; her eyes narrowed at once as she pushed the memory away. Her magic was still stronger than anything the rest of them had to throw at her (or so she thought) and this time she directed Flare at the person who seemed to be the biggest threat right now: Terra.
Rydia, you're free to say if this works or not
Date: 2010-09-10 10:04 pm (UTC)Celes saw the Flare, knew what it meant, and hoped to goodness that her magic absorption would actually work on a single-target spell. Regardless if it did or not, she would be heading for Rinoa as quickly as she could. The Vanish spell would wear off at the moment Flare was absorbed or the moment she attacked Rinoa.
I don't see why not!
Date: 2010-09-11 02:32 am (UTC)While still in the air, Terra began to Trance. The green-haired pale woman's appearance shifted to something more feral in appearance, yet more powerful as well. It couldn't be maintained overlong, lest she lose control, but the time allowed might be enough to make all the difference. With that, she soared upward, directing more bouts of Holy at Rinoa.

Date: 2010-09-12 05:26 pm (UTC)Recklessly, she flew at Terra, intending to slam her into the tower.

Date: 2010-09-12 05:37 pm (UTC)Selphie settled her feet into a casting position before she begins hurling fireball after fireball at her friend. These people had come to help them with their current debacle and there was no chance in hell that Selphie wasn't going to do everything in her power to help them out. She purposefully aimed the spells inbetween Rinoa and Terra, intent on distracting Rinoa enough so that the others could take her down out of the sky.

Date: 2010-09-12 09:01 pm (UTC)Even if she technically was, right now, and after a moment, another scattering of ice shards flew through the sky after Selphie's fireballs. The more distracted Rinoa was the better.
