Characters: Shuyin and Lenne
Progress: Ongoing
Summary: They meet for the first time in 1000 years.
Location: Wutai
Date: September 5th, 1804
Warnings: Wibbles galore. And soooo much angst.

The moment he'd saw her face, he'd felt his heart ache. How many years had it been? A millenia and neither of them had been able to rest. Or even be together. It wasn't fair and he didn't care what it took to get to her. She was his and he was hers, there was so much left unsaid. He wanted to shout at her for being so willing to leave for the war. He should have cried his eyes out and begged her to stay, but he hadn't and now look where they were.

The airship ride was quick enough and he found his way from Goug to Wutai, not caring about anything but getting to her. Once he had her, then he could work on destroying the mess around him. Even this world, he'd been there for so few days and they were already warring. Fighting over stupid things, people wanting to take over a world that was pitiful. He didn't know why everyone was so set on war, but he'd end it all and do it with Lenne at his side. It would be perfect.

Striding quickly through Wutai, Shuyin found his way to the center, not caring that it was getting dark out already. Looking around, he frowned, not at all sure where she'd be. Finally taking a deep breath, he whistled loudly.

"LENNE?!?" She had to hear that!

She hadn't been certain that it was him at first, but his voice, his mannerisms.. it was all the same. Lenne wasn't really the emotional type -- outbursts of crying weren't characteristic of her, but she couldn't help but feel her heart beat faster and faster at knowing that he was here, and he was alive.

And that there was still time.

It was the most important part, after all.

The owner of the inn in the center of Wutai had been kind enough to allow her to stay free of charge, being a Sky Person themself, and so Lenne had tucked herself into her room for the evening.

And then she heard it. The whistle was something he'd thought of, a signal for her to know that Shuyin was there for her during her concerts. Lenne rushed to the window and threw it open, leaning out to look at the town square, frantically searching for him.

And then she saw him.

"Shuyin!"

Startled, but laughing, Lenne skittered back out of Shuyin's way as he climbed in through the window. She bit her lower lip as he sank to his knees and wrapped her arms around his shoulders, stroking his hair.

"I promise, it really is me."

There was silence, a comfortable one, as she held on to him, almost waiting for him to dissolve into pyreflies. But when he didn't..

"Shuyin, I.."

Lenne leaned into him after they parted, resting her head against his chest. Her eyes closed, and she nodded softly.

"Maybe now.. maybe now we can rest." No more wandering. No more searching for him, no more calling out into the darkness of the farplane to see if he would respond. They weren't alone anymore.

"Do you really think that's possible?" The settling part. The finding a place part. She couldn't help but feel a little... happy. "Maybe.. maybe this is our second chance. Maybe we can try again."
