Characters: Tseng and Rufus (and possibly Reeve)
Progress: Ongoing
Summary: Tseng finally arrives in Lindblum
Location: ...Lindblum :|
Date: Today
Warnings: None that I can think of

Now that he'd finally arrived within the boundaries of the city proper, it wasn't hard in the least to see why Rufus had chosen this particular city as his base of operations. True, it looked as if it might have seen hard times lately, if the lingering remnants of construction were any indication, but that would have been unlikely to keep Rufus at bay. A city could be rebuilt, after all. It took time, but that was a simple enough task.

Besides, he had other matters to attend to. It might have been all well and good to continue to muse on how the city ended up needing to rebuild, but he could do so at a later date. Right now, he someone he needed to notify of his arrival, and to that end he pulled out his MogNet device. Ring, ring, Rufus. You've an incoming call.

Answering the phone on it's third ring, he was careful to keep fine control over the voice which responded, at least until he'd identified the one on the other end anyway, it was rather useful to remain unknown and thus able to see what the other two likely couldn't by now. "Yes?"

Ah, the faithful hound. Well, perhaps the man could be made useful despite or perhaps because of his apparent interest in the stones. Time would tell eventually and if the man got too annoying, he was certain he could always arrange to have him slain or make it look as if he'd vanished like some here seemed to do without warning.

He rattled off the directions which would bring the man to this estate and then waited to see if he had anything more to say right now.

Reeve was sitting at a small cafe in Lindblum, finishing up a lunch which he barely actually tasted, because his mind was on the recent events of the city. First Vincent leaving, then Cloud, and Barret... add to that the recent hubbub that seemed to have taken a number of people from town here to parts unknown, and the fact that some people who he had at least talked to in his days since arriving on Gaia had just gone completely silent, leaving him wondering just what was happening on this world, and if he was going to be long for it.

He sat looking out the window and pondering the recent events when he saw a flash of black clothing through the crowd, completely at odds with the normal colors that the residents were known to wear. He blinked his eyes and focused in that direction, following the image as it was continually obscured and revealed by the people passing between them. Finally, as a break in the crowd lined up, Reeve was able to see what he had been looking at clearly. It was Tseng! Finally, another familiar face! He quickly gulped the last mouthful of his drink and rushed out the door, making his way across the thoroughfare to greet the Turk leader.

"Tseng? Tseng! It is you!" Reeve's smile brightened. "I'm glad to see you here! It's quite refreshing to see a familiar face once again."

Reeve smiled back. "I only arrived a few weeks ago. And I'm still trying to piece together exactly how... or why. But as for you, I must say I'm surprised. I didn't know you were here either. I've heard some of the other Turks were around, and I met Rude when I went to meet Rufus, , but I didn't hear anything about you."

"So what brings you around here?"

"Ah, good. It's good to know that at least a decent number of familiar faces will be relatively nearby. It seems that most of the people who we know that are here are rather scattered across the lands. And some seem to have disappeared suddenly and unceremoniously, such as Cloud and Barret... and Vincent," he added with a remorseful sigh. It still hurt knowing that one of the people who he was the closest to ended up leaving so shortly after he arrived in this land. The feeling would surely fade over time, but for now, the feeling was still rather fresh. "Still, there are some familiar faces around, which is good."

"'The rest of the company', you say? I see. Well, that, and the direction you're walking seems to hint that you'll be meeting Rufus. He seems to be doing well, but I'm sure that is no surprise to those of us who know him. He could be dropped naked in the middle of a mile-square midden heap and inside 6 months he'd have a 4-bedroom house, probably servants, and some kind of business making more money in a week than some people see in a year." Reeve chuckled. It was an exaggeration of the abilities of his former boss and benefactor - but not by too much.

"Still, he does seem a little... stressed. Maybe it's this new world that we apparently are in. Maybe I just saw him at the wrong time. But something just didn't feel right. I'm not sure what. I'll head back there sometime soon and talk to him again. It was probably my imagination. But I figured you probably would want to at least know. I'd join you now, but I think you'll probably want to meet with your people alone first. We can catch up on more the next time we talk."
