Characters: Steiner, Eiko, Sephiroth, Rydia (?)
Progress: Ongoing
Summary: The quest to retrieve the myrrh drop from the ruins of Midgar.
Location: Midgar Ruins
Date: 10th June, 1805
Warnings: Fighting and stuff.

While the moogles had made the old Shinra Headquarters into their new Mognet Central, Midgar itself was still full of monsters. More of them than ever, in fact, since the Lunar Cry. Steiner therefore entered the ruins with some caution.

"I have heard that the tree is guarded by a metal scorpion!" he warned his companions. "We must be vigilant! It may strike without warning."

He didn't know his way around the ruins, so his current strategy was to head towards the areas most thickly infested by monsters. It seemed to be working, for in the distance he saw what appeared to be some kind of ancient momument - of what, he couldn't tell - and at its base grew a strange and twisted tree. Was that it?

"Don't worry about it, Rusty. Me and Rydia can handle it." In Eiko's esteemed opinion, there was little if anything one summoner, much less two, couldn't handle. Between herself and Rydia they were a magical powerhouse, covering just about any need: summoning, white or black. Still, she stole a glance up at her new guardian. He'd treated her like a partner, not a kid and she quite liked that, and didn't want to leave him out of the loop.

He'd thought himself prepared for the site of Midgar in ruins, he'd heard what had happened to it, but the site of it was something far more than he had really expected. There were some landmarks he could still pick out to navigate by despite natures apparent best efforts to reclaim the place. So far things were going well enough it would seem, but he never trusted even what could be very well a temporary respite.

There were plenty of things he could hear around them that might at any moment take exception to their presence within their current domain, thus why he had pulled free Masamune the moment they'd walked into the ruins and kept the trio's rear protected by staying behind them as they worked their way through.

If he were to take the lead, something might decide the woman and child were too open a temptation and decide to act on such temptation. Protected from the front by the captain and behind by him, they posed considerably less of such an easy target. "You three can focus on the tree and it's guardian, I'll keep the cities other residents from coming to it's aid should they decide to do so."

A mechanical beast? Well, that made its weakness apparent even without having to ask for someone to use Libra. Rydia frowned a bit when Steiner charged forward, not wanting to hit him with her magic in the process. Still, she focused and waited for a good opening.

As soon as she had one, Rydia summoned forth Ramuh. The elder raised his staff to the heavens, calling forth down a streak of lightning down upon their opponent.
