Characters: Steiner, Eiko, Sephiroth, Rydia (?)
Progress: Ongoing
Summary: The quest to retrieve the myrrh drop from the ruins of Midgar.
Location: Midgar Ruins
Date: 10th June, 1805
Warnings: Fighting and stuff.
While the moogles had made the old Shinra Headquarters into their new Mognet Central, Midgar itself was still full of monsters. More of them than ever, in fact, since the Lunar Cry. Steiner therefore entered the ruins with some caution.
"I have heard that the tree is guarded by a metal scorpion!" he warned his companions. "We must be vigilant! It may strike without warning."
He didn't know his way around the ruins, so his current strategy was to head towards the areas most thickly infested by monsters. It seemed to be working, for in the distance he saw what appeared to be some kind of ancient momument - of what, he couldn't tell - and at its base grew a strange and twisted tree. Was that it?

Date: 2011-06-13 01:02 am (UTC)There were plenty of things he could hear around them that might at any moment take exception to their presence within their current domain, thus why he had pulled free Masamune the moment they'd walked into the ruins and kept the trio's rear protected by staying behind them as they worked their way through.
If he were to take the lead, something might decide the woman and child were too open a temptation and decide to act on such temptation. Protected from the front by the captain and behind by him, they posed considerably less of such an easy target. "You three can focus on the tree and it's guardian, I'll keep the cities other residents from coming to it's aid should they decide to do so."
so sorry for the lateness of this
Date: 2011-06-15 08:57 pm (UTC)Moogles had reported the presence of the creature and unfortunately they weren't well-versed in battle tactics, their strategy being to run away. Steiner and his allies would have to discover the weaknesses of this metal scorpion themselves.
They had to fight their way through various familiar but not difficult monsters to reach the tree: fairly standard work so far. There was barely a dent in Steiner's armour as he paused to regard the monument. A comet? Perhaps a religious icon. But there was no time to ponder this, as the myrrh tree's guardian (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Scorpion_Guard) appeared. It was no living creature, but instead some kind of machine.
Steiner raised his sword as the scorpion scanned them, its laser eye passing over each of its enemies. "Stay back!" he called to Eiko and Rydia, and charged in to strike at his foe.
Even later, good lord. /stapleguns self to thread
