Characters: Seymour and Eiko
Progress: In-Progress
Summary: Summoner talk and a creepy dude
Location: Guadosalam
Date: early May
Warnings: Seymour being a creep

Seymour had been rather surprised to find himself back in Guadosalam, to say the least. The last thing he remembered, not that he'd told anyone as much yet, was being pulled in by Sin after his defeat on Mt. Gagazet. Yet, here he was, back in his home town, without any idea why or how... and yet his home town wasn't where it was supposed to be, he'd been given a communicator of sorts, and now knew he wasn't anywhere on Spira. Things were certainly strange.

So he'd been speaking with his fellow Guado. Several seemed to know what point in time it was and several seemed to have no concept or were claiming it was something different. Sighing to himself, Seymour turned and began to head back up to the very top. Perhaps a trip to the Farplane might help him gather his thoughts.

Eiko found this underground tree city absolutely fascinating, especially since she'd found out it was exactly how it was where it belonged too. She was vaguely curious about this 'Farplane' she'd heard of. Especially when she discovered its purpose. She might see Grandpa again, or maybe even her parents.

The Guado were a curious folk, half-person and half-tree by the looks of them. She took a shine to them immediately, even if they wanted to know if she was related to something called a Ronso. Why was everyone so surprised by her horn anyway?

She started down the path they'd pointed to her, but soon found that it morphed from the funny looking treetown appearance to the familiar root structure of Iifa. She thought for a moment that she'd taken a wrong turn, but there really was no where to do such. On her way, she encountered a strange looking Guado.

"Hello?"

"Yes, we did!" Eiko leaped into the air once, utterly happy to have found one of her mystery acquaintances. She glanced down the path, then back to Seymour. "Have you been here before? This path leads down to the bottom of the tree." Maybe it was connected where he was from too.

"I'd like to find out." Eiko peered up at her new companion, trying to puzzle out why he looked different from the other Guado, few that there were around. "I haven't been down there for three years. When I did..." When she did, Mog was still with her and freaking out. "...there's a lot of life down there."

And with that, she started marching down the path to lead the way.

Eiko nodded once. "Yep. I live with my parents in Lindblum now." Realizing that didn't make much sense, she added, "Mother and Father adopted me, so I didn't have to stay in Madain Sari alone anymore." She hadn't been truly alone; the moogles all lived with her. But six was awfully young to be without another person around.

Still, even for such a young child, Eiko had a decent head on her shoulders. She had to after being the soul summoner left in her village for a year. It was a fact she took for granted, and she seemed oblivious that other people found her assertive nature surprising.

She marched up to what looked oddly like a single leaf attached to a large spiraling root. "Over here!" she insisted as she hopped on.

A pity Eiko had no knowledge of Bevelle, or she would have noticed the similarity herself. Iifa was unusual in that it was organic, while at the same time, semi-mechanical in the depths. Especially things like the leaf transport. She was pretty sure it had to do with Kuja and Garland and their attempt to assimilate Gaia, but the finer points totally eluded her.

There was no way she was going to get into that whole alien race trying to steal the souls of this world business with Seymour. Mostly because a lot of it was still over her head. "Yeah, this takes you down to the bottom. It's the only thing like it I've seen anywhere though." She peeked over the side, and sure enough, the green glow from far below was still visible. "We'll be at the bottom soon. Oh, but monsters might show up. There's a lot of Mist in the roots."

Eiko concluded on the spot that Seymour was amazing. A true gentleman and protector.

"Well, Mog said it was life. I think it has to do with the life and death cycle, but it's definitely lots and lots of life." Not a very thorough explanation, but the best she could offer.

Once the leaf stopped moving, Eiko hopped off, and headed for the stairs. It was difficult to tell from that height, but they stood atop a multi-story harp with strings that glistened with something similar to the green that was off in the distance below the harp.

Eiko's feet hit the ground and she was off, heading for the edge of the platform, talking as she went. "Mog was my best friend." That part was easy to explain. "She was a moogle with a gold pompom, and really small and timid, born on the same day as me. But she turned into an eidolon to protect me." Yeah, that was a good explanation.

With that, Eiko marched over to the edge of the platform and peered into the green glow far far below, where the was visibly coursing layers of light, almost like a moving stream, and hovering not too far above that, a flowery meadow surrounded by tall waterfalls. "WHOA! That wasn't here before!"

"This is the Farplane the Guado were talking about?" she asked him, curiously. Peering back into the abyss that seemed to go on forever only served to whet her curiosity more. "I think this is as far as the path goes and I don't see any stairs..."

The child summoner stopped short, when an image appeared before her: an elderly summoner with a horn like her own. "Grandfather?"

Same with her~

Fortunately for Seymour, Eiko had a good grasp on what death was about. It was the unfortunate result of her being the last living summoner in Madain Sari. But for the child's companion, it spared him from teary hysterics or a uncomfortable explanation of what death was. Eiko knew first hand.

And while the child was very interested at seeing her Grandfather again, she wasn't as enthusiastic as one might have expected. She'd prayed to all her ancestors at the Eidolon Wall on a daily basis. She'd not been there in three years, but she kept a little shrine in her room in Lindblum. So she felt connected to him, even without the visual. She was more interested in seeing her parents and what they looked like since she couldn't remember. But that was the crux of the problem, she couldn't remember, and Seymour had just told her that the image was a memory.

Walking away from the edge, Eiko approached Seymour again. "It's very interesting. But... if it's sacred to your world, what's it doing here?"

"Nope! I'm good! I was curious what this Farplane thing was like." Her little head bobbed in a nod and she smiled up at Seymour. But before she turned to go back up the stairs, she paused and added soberly, "I hope your Spira is okay without your sacred place."

"Sure!" And just like that, Eiko fell in beside Seymour, just as eager to return as she'd been to come down in the first place.
