Something had been bothering Celes for quite a while. She'd meant to actually say something about it during the journey back to the Mist Continent but her talk with Rasler had pushed it back down, not wanting to bring the exact same subject up again with someone else. Of course, talking about it with Locke would be another matter entirely and one she'd deal with in the future... maybe... but that future wasn't here. Right now, she was crossing Lindblum's streets after arriving in the city, looking for the Inn, where she was to meet Terra. The green-haired girl deserved an explanation and that was what she'd come to give, no matter how difficult it would be.

This sort of thing didn't come easily for her.

Pushing open the door, she peered in before slipping inside. "Terra?" she called, glancing around for any sign of her friend.

Terra was seated in the couch in the lobby of the inn, her eyes closed, rolling a small green stone around between her fingers. But she looked up and smiled when Celes called her name.

"Hello Celes."

Celes hesitated slightly as she spotted Terra, before she walked over. "Here or somewhere else?" she asked, as the stone in the girl's hand caught her eye. "Is that something you received recently?" It didn't look familiar to her at all.

"Wherever is fine. I was going to find something for lunch, if you would want to talk and eat." She smiled faintly.

"Oh...Ramuh gave it to me." She held it out for Celes to see. "I believe I use it to summon him, but I haven't sorted out how."

Celes let her gaze wander over to the stone to examine it for a moment before she answered. "I'd like that." She returned the smile as her gaze moved to meet Terra's then.

"It's a very interesting gemstone. I hope it works for you." And she did. Celes may have been a little unsure sometimes, but that didn't mean she was ever false in her compliments or deeds.

Terra just nodded and moved to slip past Celes and out onto the street, tucking the gemstone into a pouch on her belt as she went. "I hope it does too. Somewhat." She smiled faintly. "I'm not sure how I feel about...settling in here. I'm starting to get used to it, and that makes me worry if we'll ever get home."

She shrugged a bit, glancing around. "Where would you like to eat?"

Celes paused, watching Terra stand and walk outside, following after a moment had passed. "Just because we have to get used to something doesn't mean it's giving up." The ex-general's voice was hard just for a little bit, but that coolness showed just how much she didn't want to be stuck here... and that she wouldn't let this world keep them.

"The customs may be different and the world itself may have fundamental changes, but that doesn't mean that we have to accept a fate as prisoners."

That was about the extent of her ability to comfort Terra at the moment, for she suggested a place very near by and started leading the way. Her words also served as a segue into the topic she'd originally wanted to discuss with the other girl, but whether or not they took the opening at that moment was entirely up to chance as Celes wasn't going to push it until the time was right.

Terra just nodded at Celes attempt at reassurance that they would find their way back. So far the green haired woman had seen no indication that the people of this world even knew how the 'sky people' were arriving, let alone how to return them. But the other was right, hoping was a good thing.

She followed the other woman along to the place she suggested, and eventually to a table to sit at. "...So." She said once they had settled, one green eyebrow raised. "You wanted to discuss...something."

Celes led Terra to their destination, taking a seat across the table from her friend and traveling companion. As Terra posed the question, the ex-general hesitated. Bringing this sort of thing up in general was difficult for her, let alone with someone she'd known from home. At least the good news was that she did know Terra well... and she knew the green-haired girl would understand.

Celes ran a hand through her hair as the waiter took their drink orders, waiting until he'd left before answering.

"Yes, I wanted to make sure you weren't... upset about what happened at Conde Petie." And to explain what she'd done, but she wasn't sure she could vocalize that just yet.

Terra didn't say anything for a few moments as she considered, and then she shrugged. "I'm not, really. I mean..." She smiled faintly. "It was a bit odd when you were suddenly so..." She waved her hand vaguely, as if she couldn't quite put into words how Celes had been acting.

"But I guess I sort of get why you were upset. Not personally, but..." A little shrug.

Celes paused, trying to avoid looking upset at all. "But I wasn't-" Okay that was a bit of a lie. She'd been a bit angry, but- "I wasn't upset or angry with you or Locke." She'd been upset with the things they'd had to do to simply find a girl who hadn't even been where they'd been told she might be. The customs of this place made her more than a little uncomfortable. But what she'd done she'd done for a reason.

Explaining that reason was a little difficult, though.

"I was more annoyed with the ceremony we were being forced into. It was... sudden." Something she'd been thinking of for the very distant future, if at all, had been unexpectedly shoved onto her. Onto them.

The waiter returned with their drinks then and she took a sip of hers thoughtfully before ordering a warm coffee to go with it. "I should apologize for acting so stiffly for one thing."

"I think we were all upset at the ceremony, Celes." Terra smiled at the waiter as she accepted her drink. "You did seem a bit more put off by it than everyone else, though." She added. Terra had been as well, though not to the same extent. In a way, the idea had actually kind of frightened Terra. Love was something she didn't understand, and such blatant ceremony for it was disconcerting.

"It is alright though. You are not being stiff now." She paused, and then smiled faintly, almost teasingly. "Well, mostly."

Terra's teasing brought a small bit of warmth to Celes' persona, causing her to relax slightly. It was good to know that Terra wasn't particularly upset with her over what had happened. She'd had her reasons, but she could have gone through with it a bit better.

"It's not just that," she admitted slowly, focusing on stirring her straw through her drink. "It's the fact that I wanted to protect you. And I knew Locke. I didn't know any of the others. If something were to happen or go wrong, I trusted Locke to keep you safe."

Finally, she glanced up to see how Terra would take that. It was a side the ex-general didn't often show, but one that was no less sincere than the stiff front she usually put up.
