Summary: The party you've all been waiting for: the Grand Ball of Alexandria!
Location: Palace Alexandria
Date: June 21st, 1803
Warnings: TBA. Eventually, Violence.

For weeks, the palace had been abuzz with activity; even more so than usual. On top of the usual hustle and bustle of daily life, there were the extensive preparations to be done for the festival, and this, the grand finale. The palace's largest ballroom had been decorated from floor to ceiling, wall to wall. Long elaborate draperies of silk and chiffon in white and cream, the stairs lined in a rich, crimson carpeting. Gold and silver everywhere, framing the large windows and the door opening out to the courtyard. A warm summer evening, with the roses in full bloom. Flowers adorned every table, column, and doorway. It wasn't just the ballroom that had been decorated, however; the entire palace was decked in regalia, the staff having obviously anticipated the crowd to be much larger than usual.

All around the palace, inside and out, the guard was on high alert. Every guest was greeted, checked, and in the case of the higher-ranked, announced to the company at large. The sun had not quite set, and already the ballroom was half full; nobles and low-born alike, natives and foreigners, all dressed in their best. The guest of honor had yet to make her appearance, but no one seemed to be fussed by the fact.

But the night was young, and there was bound to plenty of seeing and being seen before the night was over.

[[ooc: Here we go, everyone! Party style still applies. Tag in, tag each other, mingle, HAVE FUN!... while you can. Thread jumping and ninja tagging is encouraged. ^.^]]

Update: A fist fight broke out on page two. Feel free to ninja in to spectate, generally comment or gasp, or just read it and have a laugh. Appropriate authority figures... Squall, Steiner, etc may need to step in.

"I guess," Terra's voice sounded a bit uncertain as she continued watching the crowd. "I don't really fit in well at things like this so I'm never going to have as much fun as Selphie or any of those more..." She seemed uncertain what word to choose. "Normal people." She finally settled on with a bit of a sigh in her words.

He could not believe this woman had declared herself different. The only abnormal people he had met were nobility. Surely, this woman would not be so bold as to announce her nobility from the corner of the Queen’s celebration. As such, he must now determine if her history brought her as friend or foe.

“Many here find themselves separated from familiar surrounding. Might I ask the reason for your consternation?”

Terra wasn't really sure if she should answer a question like that, and tried to think of a way to do so that wasn't giving away everything that she was to someone who was a stranger. She didn't even know whether he was gaian or not, really.

"I don't remember much of my life," she finally settled on. "It's blurry, emotionless images. Since that ended, I haven't had much of any real practice in situations like...this." She lifted one pale hand to wave it slightly towards the crowd. "It makes these sort of functions...complicated."

If she hadn't been to any balls, then surely she couldn't be a noble. He was now more intrigued by her so called abnormality for it could mark her as friend. He on the other hand had far too much experience in this arena, mainly funded by the commoners for the nobles pleasures.

"I have been to far too many of these events. It seems this is a more lively affair than many."

He did not add that she would not have been present at those gatherings.

She couldn't resist a faint smile at his comment. "Yes, it is entertaining. I even danced some." She had actually enjoyed it, though she wasn't certain she would get a chance to do so again.

"Do you enjoy these sorts of things?"

Enjoy? Was there anything to really enjoy since Tietra was murdered? He could still remember her laughing as he swung her around the dance floor. He would give anything to see her alive again.

"'Tis an enjoyable fare for many, I suppose."
