Summary: The party you've all been waiting for: the Grand Ball of Alexandria!
Location: Palace Alexandria
Date: June 21st, 1803
Warnings: TBA. Eventually, Violence.
For weeks, the palace had been abuzz with activity; even more so than usual. On top of the usual hustle and bustle of daily life, there were the extensive preparations to be done for the festival, and this, the grand finale. The palace's largest ballroom had been decorated from floor to ceiling, wall to wall. Long elaborate draperies of silk and chiffon in white and cream, the stairs lined in a rich, crimson carpeting. Gold and silver everywhere, framing the large windows and the door opening out to the courtyard. A warm summer evening, with the roses in full bloom. Flowers adorned every table, column, and doorway. It wasn't just the ballroom that had been decorated, however; the entire palace was decked in regalia, the staff having obviously anticipated the crowd to be much larger than usual.
All around the palace, inside and out, the guard was on high alert. Every guest was greeted, checked, and in the case of the higher-ranked, announced to the company at large. The sun had not quite set, and already the ballroom was half full; nobles and low-born alike, natives and foreigners, all dressed in their best. The guest of honor had yet to make her appearance, but no one seemed to be fussed by the fact.
But the night was young, and there was bound to plenty of seeing and being seen before the night was over.
[[ooc: Here we go, everyone! Party style still applies. Tag in, tag each other, mingle, HAVE FUN!... while you can. Thread jumping and ninja tagging is encouraged. ^.^]]
Update: A fist fight broke out on page two. Feel free to ninja in to spectate, generally comment or gasp, or just read it and have a laugh. Appropriate authority figures... Squall, Steiner, etc may need to step in.

She had arrived in time to see Queen Garnet’s entrance, and was now stood by herself – at least as much as oneself as possible in the crowded room, sipping a glass of wine. Her head was tilted just slightly, her ears twitching as she simply listened to the sounds around her.

Drawing her closer, his hand settled on her lower back, amusement crossing him for a brief second that her tail was covered up, his other hand squeezing hers affectionately. "You look beautiful, Fran."

Date: 2009-10-23 09:43 pm (UTC)Even in the long gown, Fran's movements were graceful. Dancing with Balthier came as naturally as breathing. They were partners through and through. They knew each other better than anyone else; whether in battle, in flight, in dance or anything else, they fell into a perfect rhythm.

Date: 2009-10-23 10:05 pm (UTC)While he cared deeply for Fran, and there were indeed few people who knew even a fraction of his life, he still knew that whatever he knew about her, she knew at least ten more facts about him. Simply; he knew who she was, but not her past. She knew almost everything about him.

Date: 2009-10-24 07:48 am (UTC)For all the that Fran knew about Balthier, there were many she did not. But only one of them seemed to bother her, and that was just how did he feel about her? It had never used to bother her before. She ook their relationship without labels, without question. Never finding fault or doubt whether he was bedding her or another. Yet, these days, she found herself falling deeper in love with the man and it scared her.

Date: 2009-10-24 08:33 pm (UTC)Balthier gave a laugh as they danced, just a quiet sound to show he really did enjoy this sort of closeness with her. A soft smile settled on his face and a gentle kiss was placed on hers. He loved her, sure. That love was just... difficult to explain.

Date: 2009-10-24 10:21 pm (UTC)"Your adoring fans await," she murmured, gesturing to the crowd, knowing many would require his attentions. Part of her wanted to keep hold of him and not let go, yet even though seeing him with others stirred a jealousy within her these days, she was not selfish.

She glanced around, feeling rather adrift, only to have a familiar pair of ears catch her attention. Relief and joy mingled as she approached. Only the weight of her dress and not wanting to spill wine on it prevented her from rushing at her sister. "Fran!"

Date: 2009-10-23 09:48 pm (UTC)She walked, meeting Mjrn half way. "Mjrn! My sister!" A gentle smile formed on Fran's lips. "I am glad to have been able to see you. Our departure from Treno was sudden, I did not get a chance to say goodbye."

Date: 2009-10-24 12:49 am (UTC)She peered at her sister's gown admiringly. "It is a lovely gown. You wear it with such ease. Were that I able to do the same, but I assume it must come with practice?"

Date: 2009-10-24 07:58 am (UTC)It was a little strange to see Mjrn, her baby sister, dressed so... Hume. Part of her was concerned for the hardship Mjrn faced, the changes one had to adjust to when leaving the Wood; yet they all had to readjust to this new world, herself included. There was also some small, selfish part of her that was glad Mjrn had followed in her footsteps, because there was so much the Hume world had to offer. If you could look beyond the war and the hate, it was filled with love and friendship.
