Characters: Rikku, Cid, Cid, Laguna, Raine, Reno
Progress: Ongoing
Summary: In search of Trains and other knickknacks, our heroes enter the ruined city...
Location: Midgar
Date: Feb. 22nd - ?
Warnings: None, in theory.
Rikku bounced from foot to foot as she set the airship down on the edge of the dark, ruined city. She had flown over it twice on her way to Treno to give it a good look, but hadn't gotten any better idea really of precisely where she wished to go with this little expedition. She had finally decided on a landing spot, at least, a chunk of raised up concrete that had appeared to have a fairly sturdy foundation, even to hold her little cargo ship at least. Somehow, she hadn't realized Midgar was going to be this big. Nothing on Spira was this big, none of the cities even came close, really. This place and Lindblum must have been what people could do when they didn't have to deal with something like Sin.
Still, there wasn't much point in dwelling on could-have-beens. "We're here!" she called out as she checked the various landing procedures and locked the wheel, bouncing out of the pilots cabin and onto the deck. "I don't have a map or anything though, so we're just gonna have to pick a direction and go, ya know?"
She moved over to the gangplank and shoved it off the side, listening to it clatter as it slid down its grooves to settle against the ground below, and then turned to a crate she had set next to it. "I've got torches and bags and all the other stuff I thought we'd need. And food too. I'm thinking we shouldn't go too far from the ship though, ya know? We can always move it if we wanna look at another part of the city..."
She turned to Reno and Cid, "You two know this place, right? So you gotta sort of...lead the way a bit. But not too fast or anything!"

He was ready to build anything he came into contact with. Looking around his head was overflowing with ideas you could almost see them bursting out of his eyes. He was definitely gonna have fun here.

Date: 2010-02-25 05:01 pm (UTC)It had been tough to get Raine to come with him, since she wasn't really one to go around tinkering with things. But Laguna just hadn't wanted to leave her alone in Jidoor and so, dragged her along. Besides, there was a lot of catching up to do.

Date: 2010-02-25 05:27 pm (UTC)Raine gave Laguna's hand a light squeeze, mostly to reassure herself that he was still there. It was important to him, so she wasn't going to raise a stink, but she was firmly convinced that poking around in the dark was foolish at best. She had developed the opinion that while Rikku seemed a nice enough girl, she was also clearly lacking in common sense. Her choice of attire in the winter seemed indication enough, even if the idea of this project was excluded from consideration.
The mention of not having a map and just going whatever direction got Raine's immediate attention. She sighed and shook her head, grateful that at least someone had the good sense to come moderately prepared with a first aid kit. She'd banked on having to use it on her husband, but now it could have been any of the overly eager diggers. "Shouldn't we at least wait until the sun's up?"

Date: 2010-02-25 07:03 pm (UTC)Shoving his hands in his pockets, Reno looked over at Highwind. "You're gonna hate this, pal. Think Midgar was a state before, you're in for a hell of a shock. It's covered in plantlife and it's half destroyed. I figure it was probably rebuilt after we all got our shit together but I'd guess it's a good few hundred years older now. Me and Rude came down here our second day on Gaia. It wasn't pretty."
Glancing back at the rest of the group, he rolled his eyes slightly. "Ain't like we gotta worry though, Rikku. We don't gotta keep moving the ship about, me and Highwind got this place wired. We know everything and if there's something he don't know about this place, I know it."

Date: 2010-02-27 02:23 am (UTC)It was a light jog to a greenery ravished ruin, a gloved hand reaching out and plucking a small handful of vines and weeds that clung to its host. "Hey, Gingy," Cid called over to Reno, no offense intended, as he eyed everything insight after he was done looking over the vegetation. "You know what's still standin'?" It irked him a little to think about all the hard work he did when he was in ShinRa, only to have them royally mess it up and have something like this happen. It also gave him an insight he seemed to forget; just how little they were in the big picture.
He turned to the group, his usual grump face on. "Don't get me wrong, explorin's nice an' all but if there's somethin' everybody's lookin fer it'll be a lot easier ta just go there than dilly-dally ar--" he sighed, eyes closing for a second while eyebrows furrowed. Dilly-dally shilly-shally. Goddamn woman. "We'll find more shit goin' some place where stuff's gonna be instead 'a just wonderin'. Whadda ya'll lookin' fer?"

Date: 2010-02-27 04:50 pm (UTC)But then she was already bouncing away again, coming to a stop before Cid Highwind. "I'm not really looking for anything specific, just salvaging, ya know??" It was a very Al'Bhed concept. Giant ruined machine city? There had to be something of value in here. It was how their whole society worked, really, taking the chance that there would be something they could use. "So should we just, go, that way?" She pointed off towards the northeast of the city. "Anyone object?" She twisted back to the others. It was strange, leading an expedition where everyone was older than her. She felt like she needed permission for all her ideas.

Date: 2010-02-28 12:40 am (UTC)When he heard the woman's directness with her direction, he scratched his head and merely asked, "Fine by me, but why that direction?" It looked the girl was haphazardly just going with the wind. Something that Cid is not fond of doing as much, seems like something Knave would do. Guess why he could withstand her company.

Date: 2010-03-02 09:20 pm (UTC)He looked to Raine, but didn't say anything. They didn't need the sun, really and gave her hand another squeeze. "We got flashlights, we'll be fine, really."

Date: 2010-03-02 11:12 pm (UTC)Rikku figured the matter was settled, then waved to two of the Al'Bhed crew members of the airship, telling them to keep watch, and then moved to head down the gangplank onto the ground, lighting up the area around her with the torch she was carrying. "Supposedly their might be some monsters here, but I figure that's probably just a rumor. I mean, 'cause the moogles stay here and they're basically walking stuffed animals, right?"
