Location: Figaro and surrounding area
Date: Sometime after her trip to Figaro. So she and Locke can recover from the Jumbo Cactuar encounter

Burmecia reminded Celes of Zozo, with one major exception: There were no theives and no one made a habit of lying about everything. This was both very nice and very frustrating. On the one hand, she didn't have to constantly question and think about what was being said and what it could mean and what other information it would have to be placed with in order to make sense. But on the other, she couldn't automatically dismiss or accept anything that was said. It was frustrating in an entirely different way. And since she was so accustomed to Zozo, she found herself slipping into the habit of assuming the people were lying and over-thinking what was being said to her.

Resisting the urge to curse something, she made her way into Burmecia, looking for a certain gambler.

"Setzer?" she called, stopping every so often to ask a local if they'd seen her friend.

The Burmecians were more than kind enough--especially after Freya had let them know he wasn't out to rob them blind. They clearly didn't have much, but given what they'd told him about their situation, he couldn't bring himself to fault them for it. Kuja sounded almost as bad as Kefka, really.

Which was all a roundabout way of saying that as much as he appreciated their hospitality, he was more than ready to be rid of this place. It was rainy and grim, he was surrounded by children (and despite what some might think, hustling small children out of their lunch money was, in fact, beneath him), the dining and wining situation was dire, and immediate resuscitation by an expert tailor was required if his nice clothes were going to survive.

He almost didn't believe his ears when he heard a voice--Celes' voice--calling his name. Immediately diverting his attention from a small pack of rat children (they thought he told good stories), he located a figure in the rain--and she called his name again and erased all doubt.

"Celes!" He called, hurrying out heedless of the rain. Finally, finally, finally. He could have kissed her, but he'd settle for a hug.

Locke felt a tinge of jealousy at Setzer's familiarity with Celes. He knew that he needed to break that up quick. He followed quickly behind Celes, "Setzer! Looking for something a little drier?"

Burmecia turned out to be a good destination. Kain had slipped away from the company of Rydia and the others only to seek out a new location for some much needed alone time. The constant rain was also a perfect accompaniment to his mood.

Now wandering somewhat aimlessly, Kain noticed the reuniting group not too far from his path. He narrowed his eyes, trying to recall if he knew any of them personally. While was sure he'd fought aside a couple of them in battle, he was certain he'd had no contact aside from that.

It was true. He wasn't quite the hugging type. But as far as Setzer was concerned, Getting Out Of Burmecia merited one.

He wasn't surprised at Locke's words--and though the idea to be contrary and squeeze tighter did cross his mind, no point in antagonizing him. Setzer released Celes, though he did continue to smile at her. "You have no idea how good it is to see your face--you too, Locke--come, I've got to fetch my things and let madam Frida know I'm leaving." And not a day too soon.

Satisfied at Setzer's response, Locke grinned towards the old Gambler. "What? Don't like the rain?"

Seriously though, he was glad to be surrounded by friends and that included Kain who helped them protect Figaro from Kefka. He nodded back the way they came, "And you still want to join our group? Even after what happened to the airship?"

"Apparently so."

At least none of them had any connection to Kain's past. He needed the space from the others, especially given the events in Memoria. He could keep a more comfortable emotional distance here... the very thing he'd always tried to keep to in the past.

He nodded greetings, assured that they were allies if anything. "I didn't expect to see anyone familiar here."

Ringringring. Celes, you appear to have a phone call!

It's Terra, standing at the airship dock, under a ledge to keep from getting soaked.

"Celes? I'm finally in Burmecia. Where am I going? I've never been here before."

Terra nodded, although of course Celes couldn't actually see it through the phone. "Alright, I think I can find you. Thank you." And then she hung up. For several moments she stood there staring at the rain, not particularly wanting to get drenched, before she finally let out a sigh and started off towards the others.

Locke turned towards Kain, "We didn't expect to be here either."

It wasn't that he was concerned about the rain, he just didn't feel like sitting in the rain right now. He took the opportunity to sidle up next to Celes.
