Event: Eiko's Birthday Ball

Summary: A big party for a small girl. Yep, it's Eiko's birthday and she's having a ball.

Nobody could say that Regent Cid wasn't generous when it came to his adopted daughter, Eiko. In fact, some said that he was too indulgent. But on this, the evening of Eiko's tenth birthday, the citizens of Lindblum were ready and eager to celebrate. A free ball! Free drinks, free food, and a free pass into Lindblum Grand Castle. Many had failed to acquire tickets in time and were disappointed, but the lucky few piled eagerly into the castle.

Security was tight, and every single guest was checked by the guards before being allowed to enter. Once inside, they would find a wide and sumptuously decorated ballroom. A small group of musicians played slow and ambient music, while the party guests swayed across the floor dressed in all their finery. What could only be described as a flock of moogles flew or scurried around the room, offering glasses of champagne and various sweet treats. Regent Cid himself sat on a grand throne at the head of the room, nodding graciously at the guests who came to pay their respects. 

The ball was already in full swing, and the party would go on for a long while yet.

Fortunately that "someone" was someone familiar as Refia spotted a tall pair of ears off to her left. "Mjrn! Mjrn!" she called, waving as she darted through the spaces to her friend. "You look so pretty!"

Immediately, Mjrn perked up. Enhanced hearing did have its benefits, after all. She smiled upon meeting Refia roughly halfway. "Thank you, Refia. Your attire is quite lovely, as well. It suits you."

That earned the Viera a slight coloring on her face as she brushed the idea aside. "I just liked it, that's all. How are you? What are you doing? Is that bird of yours here?"

Refia very much wanted to meet Chit.

Mjrn chuckled and shook her head. "Oh, no. I am certain they would not allow her inside. She will likely sulk, but cockatrices do not belong in ballrooms."
The mental image prompted an amused glint in her eyes, though.

"I am well. The crowds have parted me from Reks, but I am certain we shall find each other again. And you, how do you find this evening thus far?"

"But she looked so cute on the Sky Phone!" If there was one thing Refia could be guaranteed to be girly about, it was animals. Usually - no toads, please. And Chit's feathers looked very soft and pretty, almost like a pillow. "I'm sure she's not dangerous. I'd like to meet her.

"Oh, I'm fine! Just training and learning more at the shop - my life's not as exciting as some of the ones we hear about anymore."

"Nor is mine. Hunts can begin to seem a like, when they are spoken of aloud." Perhaps there was a bit of wistfulness in that tone. Refia's life, however unexciting, meant that she now had a place in Gaian society. Mjrn hadn't quite managed that yet; taking up random hunts was a living, but it wasn't a stable one.

"Perhaps I can take you to meet Chit after the ball? Well, once birthday festivities have calmed. It is a task easily accomplished."
