Event: Eiko's Birthday Ball

Summary: A big party for a small girl. Yep, it's Eiko's birthday and she's having a ball.

Nobody could say that Regent Cid wasn't generous when it came to his adopted daughter, Eiko. In fact, some said that he was too indulgent. But on this, the evening of Eiko's tenth birthday, the citizens of Lindblum were ready and eager to celebrate. A free ball! Free drinks, free food, and a free pass into Lindblum Grand Castle. Many had failed to acquire tickets in time and were disappointed, but the lucky few piled eagerly into the castle.

Security was tight, and every single guest was checked by the guards before being allowed to enter. Once inside, they would find a wide and sumptuously decorated ballroom. A small group of musicians played slow and ambient music, while the party guests swayed across the floor dressed in all their finery. What could only be described as a flock of moogles flew or scurried around the room, offering glasses of champagne and various sweet treats. Regent Cid himself sat on a grand throne at the head of the room, nodding graciously at the guests who came to pay their respects. 

The ball was already in full swing, and the party would go on for a long while yet.

Ellone was really just holding the glass as an excuse to do something with her hands. She'd gotten separated early on from everyone else, so now she was moving around the crowd trying to find familiar faces. At least the dress (http://www3.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/15th+Annual+Screen+Actors+Guild+Awards+Red+80TmH3iWI3wl.jpg) was a color she liked, even if it showed a bit too much of her chest for her liking.

And of course she did find one familiar face. Spotting Rinoa, her expression brightened considerably and she hurried over. "Rinoa!"

It occurred to her a moment after she called out that Squall could be around and she tucked her hair behind her ear nervously. Would he remember anything?

"Ellone, hi!" Rinoa immediately looked contrite. "I'm sorry for running off on you in Jidoor." It was the first time they'd seen each other in person after that. "We were gonna come and visit you and Laguna and Raine, but then Raine wasn't there and then Squall disappeared... It's been a crazy few weeks, hasn't it?"

Elle laughed gently, smiling and shaking her head at Rinoa's apology. "It's all right. A lot has happened recently. I heard Squall came back..." Which meant, of course, she'd want to see him.

"He did! You should talk to him." Rinoa smiled brightly, then her smile slowly faded as she tried to recall how much Squall had known about Ellone at the time he'd arrived from. "Well... Except... You should know that he's younger. He doesn't remember anything from Gaia, or anything from our world after we first fought Edea."
