Characters: OPEN to all party guests
Progress: Ongoing
Summary: A big party for a small girl. Yep, it's Eiko's birthday and she's having a ball.
Location: Lindblum Grand Castle
Date: March 21st, 1804
Warnings: N/A so far

Nobody could say that Regent Cid wasn't generous when it came to his adopted daughter, Eiko. In fact, some said that he was too indulgent. But on this, the evening of Eiko's tenth birthday, the citizens of Lindblum were ready and eager to celebrate. A free ball! Free drinks, free food, and a free pass into Lindblum Grand Castle. Many had failed to acquire tickets in time and were disappointed, but the lucky few piled eagerly into the castle.

Security was tight, and every single guest was checked by the guards before being allowed to enter. Once inside, they would find a wide and sumptuously decorated ballroom. A small group of musicians played slow and ambient music, while the party guests swayed across the floor dressed in all their finery. What could only be described as a flock of moogles flew or scurried around the room, offering glasses of champagne and various sweet treats. Regent Cid himself sat on a grand throne at the head of the room, nodding graciously at the guests who came to pay their respects.

The ball was already in full swing, and the party would go on for a long while yet.

[ooc: Don't worry if you didn't comment to Regent Cid's earlier post requesting tickets. Handwaving is just fine if you want to hop in. It's party style - go tag and mingle! Thread jumping and ninja tagging is encouraged.]

[ooc: Eiko has made a very loud announcement about a celebrity couple's engagement. Feel free to overhear, react or congratulate.]

"I can assure you that I am indeed not a prince. My father was but a common man. Still, I was expected to act properly in these celebrations." It was refreshing to see a lady out wanting to enjoy herself than throwing herself at every available noble. While he knew that most would be taken advantage of, it was common for families to send their wed and unwed daughters alike out for the pleasure of the ruling class.

His desire for the evening was to show his friend the finer indulgences of a celebratory ball, "If you are to experience the fullness of this ball, then I would be remiss if I did not ask for your hand in the next dance."

"A common man, huh? I guess my dad was a bit of a 'commoner' as well." She thought aloud with rather thoughtful gaze settling within her cheery green eyes.

Aerith never knew her real mother or father; the both of them were taken away from her when she was just a child. Professor Gast was supposedly a man worthy of praise within Shinra, perhaps the only scientist in the entire department who Sephiroth truly admired. As for her mother, Ifalna was the last of her kind. She was the last of the Ancients, the last full-bloodied Cetra who could hear the planet's whispers. As a child, Aerith wished she could have the chance to meet her parents, but now such wish was forever lost.

Even if Gaia magically found a way to resurrect her true parents, Aerith wouldn't even know them if she saw them.

"A dance? Sure!"

He had taken it upon himself to show this normal woman what he believed a ball should consist of. It mattered not to him who her parents had been, only that she had honestly befriended him when he had given her nothing but a ride home.

He offered his arm to her with all the sophistication a trained Knight possessed and gestured gently towards the dance floor.

Certainly all smiles as she entered the ballroom with Delita acting as her date, Aerith glanced about at all the lovely people she saw. It truly like walking through a fairytale, the beginning of a classic story of a rags-to-riches maiden. The chandeliers above sparkled with great luminance, leaving a bright amber glow upon the newly waxed marble floors. Her heels clicked lightly against the floor as she walked, along with the low thud of Delita's boots. Aerith's heart was racing, her eyes as wide as they could be as eyed the spectacle before here.

Tonight was certainly a night she was going to remember forever.

"Delita." She whispered to his ear. "What is the name of the dance they are doing? They are spinning like tops!" Aerith was most likely mentioning the classic waltz. The classic three-step move was a staple in Lindblum culture, much like in other places. Hoping she could mimic such wonderful dancing, Aerith prayed that Delita was good at it.

It was Aerith's good fortune that he had been raised as a proper Squire to appreciate the finer nuances of the waltz. "'Tis favorable that this dance is similar to a native Ivalician Waltz. If you will but follow, whence I lead you you shall appear far more experienced than you believe."

He was surprised at the softness and warmth that exuded when he placed his hand around her waist. It seemed that he would enjoy this evening more than any other for dancing with with Aerith was unlike dancing with Tietra. He promptly nudged her in the correct pattern, keeping it simple and delicate.
