Event: Eiko's Birthday Ball

Summary: A big party for a small girl. Yep, it's Eiko's birthday and she's having a ball.
Location: Lindblum Grand Castle

Nobody could say that Regent Cid wasn't generous when it came to his adopted daughter, Eiko. In fact, some said that he was too indulgent. But on this, the evening of Eiko's tenth birthday, the citizens of Lindblum were ready and eager to celebrate. A free ball! Free drinks, free food, and a free pass into Lindblum Grand Castle. Many had failed to acquire tickets in time and were disappointed, but the lucky few piled eagerly into the castle.

Security was tight, and every single guest was checked by the guards before being allowed to enter. Once inside, they would find a wide and sumptuously decorated ballroom. A small group of musicians played slow and ambient music, while the party guests swayed across the floor dressed in all their finery. What could only be described as a flock of moogles flew or scurried around the room, offering glasses of champagne and various sweet treats. Regent Cid himself sat on a grand throne at the head of the room, nodding graciously at the guests who came to pay their respects. 

The ball was already in full swing, and the party would go on for a long while yet.

"It would be my pleasure, My Lord," she teases, coming to stand at his side, hands still entwined.

Ashe accompanies him onto the floor where other couples are enjoying the music, dancing gracefully. finding an appropriate spot they pause, Ashe turning to face and curtsy to her prince.

"Too long," she smiles, falling easily into the steps and noting how elegant he moved, how she would rather dance with Rasler than any man in the whole of Gaia even if he were the clumsiest alive and stood on her toes with each step.

"The last time... I was eight months pregnant."

"Hm?"

Ashe's eyes followed the direction of his and spotted the hallway, remembering. They had been newly reunited at the time of Gaia's first formal dance, and temptation had gotten the better of them in a corridor such as that.

"We seem to be to making a habit of encounters in hallways... I fear for my reputation," she teased. Ashe's laughter was light, eyes sparkling, a low blush to her cheeks.

As Ashe and Rassler had their lovely little romantic moment, suddenly a tiny blue and yellow blur would collide with the back of Rassler's legs, bouncing off quite easily without actually knocking the man over.

"Oh! Pardon me!" It appeared to be one of the little black mage children, who was seemingly involved in the large game of tag that had broken out amongst the Birthday Girl and her friends. He hoped to his feet and adjusted his hat, and then gave them a wave and took off.

A moment later Shelke appeared from the crowd, seemingly chasing after the mage child. Her blue eyes were sparkling, and there was even the faintest hint of a smile tugging at the corner of her lips. "He is faster than I realized." She explained in that calm voice of hers to the two startled dancers before she continued after the little kid.

Suddenly Ashe had been abruptly jostled out of her little reverie, having forgotten she and Rasler weren't alone (which happened whenever they would dance together). Staring after the children, the princess could only steady herself in Rasler's arms.

She wasn't angry, no, more bewildered by the sheer, boundless energy of children, and here was her husband suggesting they have another! Images of Shain and numerous siblings racing around her feet made her remember the vision she'd had in Memoria, of their children, of a large and happy family.

"When the time is right," she said in a soft whisper, "it will happen."
