Event: Eiko's Birthday Ball

Summary: A big party for a small girl. Yep, it's Eiko's birthday and she's having a ball.

Nobody could say that Regent Cid wasn't generous when it came to his adopted daughter, Eiko. In fact, some said that he was too indulgent. But on this, the evening of Eiko's tenth birthday, the citizens of Lindblum were ready and eager to celebrate. A free ball! Free drinks, free food, and a free pass into Lindblum Grand Castle. Many had failed to acquire tickets in time and were disappointed, but the lucky few piled eagerly into the castle.

Security was tight, and every single guest was checked by the guards before being allowed to enter. Once inside, they would find a wide and sumptuously decorated ballroom. A small group of musicians played slow and ambient music, while the party guests swayed across the floor dressed in all their finery. What could only be described as a flock of moogles flew or scurried around the room, offering glasses of champagne and various sweet treats. Regent Cid himself sat on a grand throne at the head of the room, nodding graciously at the guests who came to pay their respects. 

The ball was already in full swing, and the party would go on for a long while yet.

Rosa gasped and raised a hand to her mouth at that. "What happened?"

The sight of Selphie bouncing a few seconds later made Rosa laugh, though. She was so cute and sweet. "I'm glad for you. And I'm glad to have Cecil back. It's nice to see him and spend time with him again. I missed him terribly."

Rosa understood missing someone she really cared about, and so she peered at Selphie curiously. "Selphie," she teased gently, not letting the other girl get away with it so easily. "It's okay to miss someone." Even if you weren't going to get married any time soon.

It wasn't an entire subject change, but it helped a little. Rosa was properly astounded and gasped in all the right places. "I hope she got him out of there and Rydia didn't hit him too hard." Or... turn him into a toad.

But she was easily distracted by the sight of Rydia and Edge... and it looked like they were getting along quite well. Rosa smiled, her cheeks turning red as she pointedly turned away. She didn't want to watch her two friends making out over there.

"They have their rough moments, but they're close," she admitted. "I've been hoping they would become closer here."

Rosa's blush deepened and she pointedly stared in the opposite direction. She was a bit innocent when it came to those sorts of actions. While she knew and understood the natural way of things, she still didn't go around thinking about anyone doing anything like that, especially not her friends.

"Hm?" Rosa's attention was caught by Selphie's next words and she looked in the direction her friend was. "That's Kain. He's a friend of mine." She frowned slightly, though, seeing him alone at a time like this. But that was his nature. He didn't like gatherings like this very much. She was simply glad he'd come at all.

"I should speak with him soon. He doesn't like social gatherings like this much."

Rosa nearly choked at Selphie's suggestion and she looked over at the other girl curiously. "Kain? I-I don't know." Rosa was at least a little informed of Kain's attraction to her, but maybe a girl who could return his affection would be a good idea. "I don't know who we might like." Or who could get through his tough shell of self-imposed misery.

Rosa blushed again and decided not to answer that question. She just thought about Kain for a while. Maybe having someone to focus on would be good for him. A girl could keep him company at least, right?

"We'll have to be sure he doesn't mind..." Ever conscious of her friends' feelings. "I don't know who he might not mind, though. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with anyone who isn't already taken or who might make a good match for him."

It was hard. Rosa knew Kain and it wasn't an easy decision to make. In spite of everything, though, she was distracted by the thought that Selphie had a sister. "You have a sister?" Who was 'Sis?'

"I don't know Rikku or Yuffie." Not that she needed to approve anyone for Kain, but she did know him better than Selphie.

"I see." Rosa laughed at that. It sounded like this Ellone girl was really sweet to have been adopted by so many people. "Maybe I could meet her sometime?"

She followed Selphie's gaze and looked at everyone she pointed out. Uh-oh. If Rikku was as energetic as Selphie, Kain wouldn't like her. "Maybe we should look for calmer people, someone who-'s a lot like me..."
