Characters: Rinoa, Garnet, OPEN
Progress: Ongoing
Summary: Rinoa attacks Alexandria. Garnet cops it. SeeDs and others save the day. Check here for more details. OPEN to anyone who wants to come help defend the city.
Location: Alexandria
Date: 30th-31st August, 1804
Warnings: Violence and death.
The Alexandrians were more resourceful than Rinoa had anticipated. It was such a backwards country that she thought it would be easy: a fun distraction while Ultimecia laid waste to bigger threats elsewhere. But a squadron of airships had found them en route from the ruins of Midgar and proceeded to harry them all the way to the city.
The good thing was that it became easier to convince some of the students that Alexandria ought to be invaded. The rest were bewildered and scared; the entire Garden was in disarray. Rinoa didn't really care at this point. Garden was merely a vehicle.
A small squadron of students had been instructed to attack the city. But that wasn't Rinoa's destination. Under cover of darkness, she flew into the city, moving from rooftop to rooftop and casting fire spells as she went. Very soon, smoke and flames filled the air, along with the screams of panicked citizens. As the city burned and confusion took over, the SeeD students moved in to begin the battle. Rinoa didn't stop to watch them.
She moved on, staying too low for the airships to safely reach her, until the castle walls loomed before her. Here she abandoned stealth and flew straight up, her wings flashing white in the darkness. Shouts of startled guards followed her, but they couldn't chase her into the sky. The first Flare smashed into a turret, killing two soldiers and reducing half the turret to rubble. Rinoa was exhilarated. This was everything Ultimecia had promised her, and more.
There would be more deaths to come.

Date: 2010-08-31 01:56 am (UTC)Upon reaching the castle, Terra paused to glance around, hoping to find Cloud and other familiar faces. Even if she found none, protective spells would be cast before heading onward; Protect, Shell, Haste. Then and only then would she proceed, hand on her sword hilt. Ultimecia needed to be found and stopped, hopefully without further loss of life....

Sword out, she hurried onward.

Date: 2010-09-01 02:15 am (UTC)Of course, someone would and Rydia counted on that. She used one of her rods to cast Protect over herself and anyone nearby, but didn't have time to do more before she spotted more allies up ahead. Encouraged by that sight, Rydia moved to catch up with the SeeDs.

Date: 2010-09-19 04:34 pm (UTC)Although Seifer didn't have any magic to rely on outside of a simple fire spell he used to distract his enemy before setting up a much more powerful attack, Rinoa had been kind enough to cast aura on him prior to the impending battle. While Celes' runic ability may have absorbed the initial fire spell before it could catch the group off-guard by blasting them all in the face, it didn't stop the energy discs--one for each of them--that came arcing toward their group immediately afterward.
If they hit their marks, perfect. If not, the resulting destruction to the castle proper would likely engulf them in so much chaos that they would be open to the next volley of discs, as Seifer was already beginning to charge his gunblade with another round of the aptly named attack: No Mercy.

FINAL BOSS BATTLE
Date: 2010-09-01 08:40 pm (UTC)The night was at its blackest when the Sky People arrived. Most of them were people she knew, people she had considered friends. But to Ultimecia's puppet, they were simply in her way.
Rinoa perched on the highest remaining turret, her dark hair flying this way and that as she looked around. Many of the Alexandrian soldiers were dead or wounded, but reinforcements had arrived.
She huffed when she saw the SeeDs. "What, you guys can't stay in a prison cell for just a couple of days? Seriously."

Date: 2010-09-03 04:49 am (UTC)But her question deserved at least a passing answer, and so he raised his gunblade (not Lionheart, if she were to look closely, but Hyperion) in her direction, his face all but set in stone. It was horrible that circumstance had brought them to this, but so be it. He'd come to far now to turn back.
"A couple of days was long enough. How long have you been planning this?"

Date: 2010-09-03 10:02 am (UTC)Foolhardy and optimistic the words might've been, but Tidus wasn't acting like a complete moron - even as he spoke, he was invoking Cover, fully planning on taking the hits for his allies. After the past day, none of them was in perfect shape, and Squall was probably going to be the best for a physical assault at this point, so at least he could act like a protective bulwark.

Date: 2010-09-03 10:23 pm (UTC)"What have you done to my knight?" She shook her head, eyes flashing with anger. "God, you're like a swarm, aren't you? This ends here."
Standing up, she didn't hesitate to cast Tornado. The wind rose around her, whipping back her hair, but that was nothing to the twister that whipped up around the party facing her. With any luck, it would blow a couple of them right off the tower. And it was such a long way down.

Date: 2010-09-03 11:14 pm (UTC)He might not be pleased about having been trounced and then having his weapon stolen, but he'd live. There'd been enough death as it was, and Squall hadn't had any desire to and Seifer to those who'd already fallen.
Still, the Tornado was a far cry from anything Seifer had offered, and not even having half-expected it could have helped. It was all he could do to hold on to what little there was to hold on to and wait for the winds to die down.
"It's not over!"

Date: 2010-09-04 03:26 pm (UTC)The expression in her eyes was cold and calculating, similar and yet different to anything the Sorceress had shown them. Let her deal with the general who had once torched a town and many of its inhabitants. See how she liked that.

Date: 2010-09-05 10:01 pm (UTC)It was no match for the magic that a sorceress had in their arsenal but at least a Red Mage would help to even the score a little bit. "What the -- we can't cast magic at home..."
Not that it mattered because it meant that Selphie could help take down Rinoa without having to resort to a sneak attack. Although... the sneak attack was starting to sound like a good idea.
