Characters: Rosa and anyone in Troia who helped with the pirate situation
Progress: Ongoing
Summary: Rosa thanks everyone for coming to her aid
Location: Troia
Date: Early Feb
Warnings: Vayne being a creeper? None really for now

Cecil's departure had very nearly set Rosa's world upside down. In fact, she had come to wonder how she was still upright. Rydia's arrival had been a blessing, as the summoner had practically forced her to sleep and even though she'd slept fitfully, at least she'd rested some. Something was always better than nothing.

She'd done what she could for the people of Troia, following Vayne's strategical suggestions thoroughly. Once reinforcements had arrived, the pirates had been conquered and Rosa could now rest easily. As soon as she had finished patching up those who had been injured in the subsequent battles and made sure the citizens were all right still, Rosa knew she needed to thank those who had come to her aid. Without them, she and the town of Troia would have been overrun in a matter of minutes.

So, she'd issued an order for everyone to either meet in the middle of the town or to allow her to find them. With any luck at all, those who had assisted her would allow her this one final request.

((OOC: feel free to create separate threads or whatever you guys feel like doing. If you need a Rosa specifically, specify that you're looking for her, or I'll just assume she found them to thank them.))

Kain had no intentions to linger around Troia once all was settled. He'd pushed himself as always to do his best during the conflict against the pirates. Now, with that done... he felt that his purpose here was quickly coming to an end. He would have to see if the others were ready to depart soon.

But he was somewhat torn on whether or not to follow though with Rosa's request. At the moment, he didn't want to be around much of a crowd... so he remained at some distance, more on the fringes than actually in the middle of the group that had gathered.

It didn't surprise Edge to see Kain away from the energy. Normally, he'd have stayed in the action, but he hadn't seen Kain since his arrival. While everyone was occupied, he sought out the Dragoon, "Glad to see you haven't forgotten how to aim that spear at pirates."

There were several reasons why Kain was avoiding socialization... and Edge was certainly one of them. He had taken much caution to avoid him until now. But he knew it wasn't going to remain that way forever.

Kain narrowed his eyes. "Believe it or not, I know who my enemy is..."

Edge had heard this before. Maybe everyone else was ready to forget how cold and vicious Kain had been, but he was not so forgiving. He had taken it upon himself to ensure that Kain would never harm their friends again. Still, even he could admit to the assistance Kain's spear had provided in the skirmish with the pirates.

"Cecil would thank you himself if he were here." Lifting his hand to shake in a piece offering, "Thanks for saving a few pirates for me!"

Narrowing his eyes and folding his arms a moment, Kain watched Edge warily. He knew that the other wasn't terribly fond of him, and had a right to feel that way. In some respects, the way he acted toward Kain was pretty much how Kain himself thought he deserved to be treated. Yet at the same time, his pride wouldn't entirely allow it. He would just have to put up with this conversation as best he could for now.

There was a long pause, until he grudgingly accepted his hand. "Fortunate for you, there were plenty out there to deal with. I only regret that Cecil isn't here to be part of this."

Edge smirked, "He'd have been lucky if there were any left, the way we ran through them." While Edge lamented Cecil's disappearance, he was still unsure of Kain's true feelings on the subject. Still, a victory celebration was neither the time or place for discussions of that nature to take place.

Kain had a good idea of what Edge might think about the manner... and hated the fact that he would be right. Not that Kain wanted Cecil to be gone entirely, but... well... this did end discussion of the wedding for now. Even though at the same time he felt guilty, for Rosa's sake...

"I doubt he would have had much left to deal with..." As guilty as it made him feel to think this way, it also made him seem like he'd somehow done much better than Cecil just for the fact of being there.

Edge turned toward Rosa, seeing the exhaustion that was deep within her body.

"We didn't really need his help fighting, but if he was around, Rosa wouldn't be so tired. Don't worry about her. I'll look after her until Cecil come back."

"You'll look after her?" Kain sounded doubtful. But... especially after Memoria had dredged up painful moments of the past, he knew better than to trust himself with such a task. He was also all too aware that Edge might be thinking with the same logic.

After a while, Rydia spotted him as she also sought a break from the crowd and the noise that went with it. She hoped that her weariness didn't show as much as she was feeling it, while heading over. Upon reaching the dragoon, she looked him over to see if he needed tending. It was very likely that pride might keep him from admitting any need in that regard.

Kain should have known he couldn't avoid any of the others. He'd pushed himself and was definitely still doing so now, trying to ensure that no signs of battle-weariness showed too badly. "I'm fine," he remarked upon seeing the way she was looking him over. "...and we emerged victorious, fortunately..."

Rydia nodded cautiously, satisfied for now. "We wouldn't have fared as well without everyone's help. I'm glad we could make it in time. But now that it's over, there's something I need to do. So...maybe a good night's rest and then it's time to leave.

"What would that be?" Kain looked at her, at least somewhat curious. "I assume this to be something other than retrieving the Lunar Whale..." Whatever it was, Kain had a feeling from the way it sounded that it was some task for her alone. He might be mistaken, but she'd explain soon enough anyway.

"Well, yes...." Rydia crossed her arms, trying to figure out how to explain. "The spirit of a non-native Eidolon that bonded with me reached out, earlier. She said that she had news, and to meet her as soon as possible. So, I need to reach the Eidolon Wall in Madain Sari. I don't think it will take a lot of time, but she wouldn't have made such a sending if it wasn't important. I don't think it can afford to be ignored. I still want to check out the Shimmering Island, but what she says might give us more insight."

Kain nods, feeling he has no place to question anything that's the business of the Eidolons. If they have word for her, then... maybe it will assist in getting them closer to a return home. Possibly. "Perhaps it will. I would hope this journey doesn't take you too long..."

Rydia shook her head. "I doubt it, with the Lunar Whale. Whatever happens, I plan to be in and out as quickly as possible. There's no other reason keeping me there, not when we have other issues that need attention, too."

"Of course." The sooner they saw to those, the better in Kain's opinion. He didn't plan to remain here for much longer after all. "Then... good luck in accomplishing your task."

not a problem! XD

Kain froze up for a moment, hesitating. He'd had a rough time going through Memoria and too much of that had involved Rosa. He'd been afraid to approach her up until now because of that. Yet even though he should be a failure in her eyes, it didn't seem she felt that way... and seeing that she was so happy gave him a mix of feelings.

"I owed it to you and to Troia to do what I could." Despite how anxious he'd felt about seeing her, something about her presence always seemed to put him at ease. "...but you're welcome, nonetheless."

Kain also hesitated, tempted to hug her as well, but afraid lest he give the wrong idea. That uncertainty was so strong in mind from those memories. He could only enjoy that smile, silently...

"It wasn't anything that I couldn't handle." He did all he could to push back his weariness, for her. "I was... glad to do what I could..."

He could have hugged her for that expression, that beautiful smile... but he restrained himself as always. It wasn't helping him to move on, dwelling upon her like this, and yet... and yet he simply couldn't make himself move beyond it.

"I can stay as long as I'm needed. I should be capable for some while yet..." Although he did feel that fatigue creeping in, now that the thrill of the battle was largely over.

Although he wouldn't admit it or even show it very much, Kain really did need that spell. It restored some of his depleted energy and his expression turned grateful in silent thanks.

"I won't... I promise." He stifled a yawn after that. "You should also take some rest, after all of that..."
